Women's College Basketball Game of the Week: No. 12 Kentucky vs. No. 13 Oklahoma
No. 13 Oklahoma will kick off the month of February, by playing host to No. 12 Kentucky in its second straight top-15 matchup.
The Wildcats have won 11 of their last 12, while the Sooners aim to avoid their first back-to-back losses of the season.
This game will also continue the tradition of Oklahoma Athletics' annual Pink Game supporting the fight against cancer in women.
The Sooners have absolutely dominated in the annual Pink Game under the supervision and guidance of Head Coach Jennie Baranczyk, with a perfect record of 3-0. The team will be decked out in their iconic pink Jordan brand uniforms, just another aspect of this game that makes it so special.
The Sooners made history Thursday night against No. 7 LSU, as both teams scored 100+ points in regulation – a first in SEC history. OU has now hit the 100-point mark in a program-record-tying four games this season, and the matchup ranked as the second-highest scoring game in league history.
This impressive feat still would not be enough for OU to beat LSU, as the team now looks to bounce back against Kentucky on Sunday afternoon.
A win against The Kentucky Wildcats would Secure Baranczyk's 15th top-25 win since arriving at Oklahoma in 2021. It would be the fourth-ranked win of the season.
Moving to the Wildcats' side of things, the team is coming off an impressive win against Alabama on Thursday.
Four starters scored in double digits, with Georgia Amoore leading the way on 16 points. Clara Strack added her 10th double-double of the season and her second straight on 14 points and 14 rebounds, also dishing out three assists and a block.
Kentucky has held 14-of-its-20 opponents under 40.0 percent shooting from the field, including 6-of-its-8 league opponents. The Wildcats have held all but one opponent under 45.0 percent shooting from the field this season, with North Carolina being the lone outlier.
This is the fifth all-time meeting between the two teams. Kentucky leads Oklahoma, 3-1, in the series. The Wildcats won the last three straight games in the series.
With the stakes as high as ever, and momentums running high this is the game to watch and a must not miss.
