About Us

Bellisario College Student Media serves as the home for content produced by students in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications at Penn State as they prepare for professional media-related careers.

Centre County Report

The award-winning, student-produced "Centre County Report" newscast serves a dual purpose. It provides a source of news and information to the residents of Centre County and functions as a real-life laboratory for students learning to report and deliver news.

CommRadio

CommRadio is the official radio/streaming station of the Bellisario College. More than 150 students, specializing in news, sports, arts and entertainment, production, marketing/promotion and sales, staff the internet-based station. These students produce half-hour newscasts, provide play-by-play of many Penn State and State College High School sporting events and are responsible for creating and airing talk shows each week.

When student programming is not on the air, CommRadio supplements its coverage with music.

Student News Consortium

The "Centre County Report" and CommRadio are part of the Student News Consortium at Penn State, which also includes The Daily Collegian, PSN-TV and The Lion 90.7 FM. The consortium allows the student media entities to share resources and run more efficiently while retaining editorial independence as they seek combined financial support from the Student Fee Board at the University.

The consortium is designed to:

  • provide practical learning experiences in professional environments dedicated to excellence, student freedom of expression and sound business practices appropriate to an academic setting;
  • produce superior student media responsive to the general needs of the Penn State community;
  • collaborate utilizing shared resources and ideas for joint projects and ongoing coverage; and
  • develop student leadership through ongoing training and advising.
