What to do on a bye week
Window shop
If you’re not going to spend money at Beaver Stadium, you might as well spend it window-shopping downtown.
Before I go, I have to get some Dunkin’ for the road. Medium iced coffee, three creamers, two sugar and french vanilla. Alright – let’s shop.
I start at McLanahan’s on the far end of downtown and go up to Connections on South Allen St. Headphones in, dilly-dallying my way while also earning a ton of steps on my Apple Watch. I spend a lot of money, but I get fit in the process. It’s really a win-win for everyone.
I’ve had the most success at The Family Clothesline this year, finding some really cute shirts for under $15.
Window shopping is a really great way for me to clear my mind and spend time by myself, as well as get some good exercise.
A day under $100 is a victory in my mind. -Adrianna Gallucci
Explore State College’s great outdoors
It is a shame that the weather is less than ideal for most of the time Penn Staters spend in State College. Especially since most of those nice late summer or early fall weekends are spent inside and around Beaver Stadium, there isn’t much chance to explore the rest of what State College has to offer.
With an early bye week, this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the nice weather that State College offers.
Go hike Mount Nittany, take a ride out to Sayres Dam or even bask in the sun at the arboretum.
It’s easy to just spend your bye weekend rotting away in bed, but there will be plenty of time for that when the grey skies and cool weather begin, which is sooner than most people would think. When that comes, a nice hike or day in the sun will sound like a dream. -Sophia D’Ovidio
