Way too early College World Series predictions

By CommRadio Staff

With the college baseball season in full swing, everyone is hoping to punch their ticket to Omaha for a chance to win the 2025 College World Series.

Teams have already shown why they are a powerhouse while others have been very surprising in both good and bad ways.

But who knows what could happen this year? Will it be like almost every year and just another SEC team or will someone shock the world?

So, here are some way too-early College World Series predictions.

Virginia doesn’t make the College World Series

Virginia lost their first game of the season to Michigan, they only put up three runs against Villanova and beat Rice who haven’t been good since Wayne Graham left in 2018.

Virginia is one of the most prestigious college baseball teams in the country, but they have one of the toughest schedules in college baseball.

They have to travel all the way to California to play Cal and they have to play at NC State, Florida State, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.

The way they are already performing might be a preview of a season Virginia will hope to forget.

More than one Big Ten team will make the College World Series

With the addition of Oregon, USC, UCLA and Washington to the Big Ten, the conference has become so much more competitive and it will show in the sport of baseball.

Penn State was the eighth seed in the Big Ten tournament last year and made it all the way to the final and only lost by one run to Nebraska which is where the tournament is.

This should also give the conference a major advantage because by giving them games in Omaha before regionals, eventually, the CWS will get them used to the playing field and the possible atmosphere.

Texas A&M will win its first College World Series, totaling 65 wins

Since the canceled season in 2020, three of the last four national champions have not only been first-time winners, but they have also all been in the SEC.

I believe that it is Texas A&M’s turn. They are currently the best team in the country and are led by top draft prospect Jace LaViolette.

The Aggies will definitely start the season strong, keep racking up wins early and have so much momentum going into the postseason in which they will go on to win it all.

Clemson heads to Omaha for the first time since 2010

The Tigers have had tons of preseason hype, and they executed in the opening weekend to the tune of wins over No. 19 Oklahoma State and Arizona.

Outfielder Cam Cannarella has been a gem so far in his college career with a .362 batting average in 120 games. He’s also great in the field, especially because of his catch against Florida in the Super Regionals last year.

With Big Ten additions such as Collin Priest from Michigan and Luke Gaffney from Michigan, the Tigers are looking to rise all the way to the top of the college baseball world this season.

Stetson will be a Cinderella story contender

After a stellar weekend that saw the Hatters take down UConn, Penn State, and Missouri, this team is ready to improve upon their 41-win campaign last season.

The proof is in the pitching, where the Stetson staff has struck out 37 batters and walked only 14 in 36 innings so far this season.

The Hatters are no stranger to beating ranked teams, as they did so last season with wins over No. 4 Florida, No. 16 UCF, and No. 10 Florida State.
