Local Fire Companies Get Creative to Solve Volunteer Firefighter Challenge
As communities grow and emergencies rise, the number of volunteer firefighters is shrinking. Carson Schuler went to the Alpha Fire Company to explore how the department is coping with a nationwide shortage of volunteers, what’s driving the decline, and why recruitment efforts are more critical than ever. With an open house scheduled for May 10th, the department hopes to spark new interest and inspire the next generation of volunteer firefighters.
