Top moments from the 2025 Frozen Four
The college hockey season has come to an end as the Western Michigan Broncos took home this year's national championship.
This year was such a great year for college hockey as we saw so many storylines.
The Frozen Four was the conclusion of this great year and with it, we saw some great moments out in St. Louis.
Here are some of the top moments from this year's Frozen Four.
Game one goes to double overtime
There is no better sign that two teams are so evenly matched than when they go to overtime. Now imagine they go to two.
After being down 2-0 going into the third period the Denver Pioneers fought all the way back to send the first game to overtime.
In that overtime period, we saw so many chances and it was a back-and-forth game. Great goaltending allowed these two to go to a second overtime. In that overtime, we get to the next great moment from the frozen four.
Owen Michaels sends Western Michigan to the final
Penn State fans were already mad as their game got started an hour and a half late thanks to game one. This all came to an end though just 26 seconds into the second overtime.
After Western Michigan entered the offensive zone the puck found its way to Owen Michaels who had already scored one goal in the game. He took the puck and beat Matt Davis the only way anyone knows how to. He put it glove-side high and into the back of the net.
This would send Western Michigan to the title game and give them a shot to win their first national championship in program history.
Nic DeGraves scores the first goal in Frozen Four history for Penn State
If you had told someone 15 years ago that Penn State would be in the Frozen Four they would have thought you were crazy. Mainly because Penn State hockey didn’t have a Division one hockey team at the time.
Coach Guy Gadowsky has been with the program since the start and has now finally made his first Frozen Four. It was a Cinderella run for the Nittany Lions, but as most Cinderella do it all came to an end. The blue and white lost to Boston University in the semi-final.
With a year of first Penn State got their first Frozen Four goal in program history. It came off the stick of Nic DeGraves as he was in front of the net and deposited the puck in the wide-open net.
So when you get asked who scored the first Frozen Four goal in Penn State hockey history? The answer is Nic DeGraves.
Owen Michaels scores the empty net goal against Boston University
With just under three minutes left in the game, Owen Michaels shot the puck towards the empty net and that was all she wrote. Although the game was already over as Western was leading 5-2, this just iced the game.
Along with this it also solidified Michaels as the player of the tournament. He scored four goals including the game winner to send Western Michigan to the final.
Western Michigan wins their first Natty
The Broncos are at the top of the college hockey world. After an outstanding game against Denver, they dismantled Boston University to win the 2025 National Championship.
All the hard work that they put in to find themselves at the top of the college hockey world. It was a great moment for the team and the greatest moment of this year's Frozen Four.
