Penn State lost a key piece in its 2025 on Tuesday afternoon.

Four-star offensive lineman Jaelyne Matthews has re-opened his recruitment after committing to the Nittany Lions on Jan. 31.

The 6-foot-6, 273-pound junior will remain a top target for the blue and white, and it’s not uncommon for a top prospect to decommit.

In the 2024 class, former four-star Mega Barnwell was the first player in the class before decommitting, and then he ultimately re-committed before enrolling in January.

The Toms River, New Jersey, native is ranked as the nation’s No. 62 player in the 2025 class and the seventh-best offensive tackle, per On3.

Matthews has offers from Michigan, Georgia and Florida.

Penn State now has just two verbal commits in the class from four-star running back Kiandrea Barker and three safety Omari Gaines.
