Top 10 backdrops in the MLB

By Tristan Kunec

One of the best parts of baseball is sitting in the summer air for a couple of hours, getting some sun and just getting to be in a beautiful ballpark with nothing to worry about for a day.

These are the 10 best ballpark backdrops in the MLB.

10. Citizens Bank Park - Philadelphia Phillies

The one thing about this park is how open it is. The giant LED bell in the middle of the park adds to the Philadelphia skyline in the background.

When the sunset hits from the opening in the middle of center field and you see the skyline behind the bell, it’s one of the best sights you’ll see at a ballpark.

9. Angel Stadium - Los Angeles Angels

This stadium has a lot of potential to be higher. The rock design in the middle of centerfield is a staple of that stadium and adds a desert vibe to a city.

The only thing that hurts this is that there really is no skyline in the background, but the openness of the stadium and seeing the area it’s in, puts it in the top 10.

8. Great American Ballpark - Cincinnati Reds

This ballpark is right on the river. What more can you really ask for? You have the view of the water and then the country looks from beyond there.

The smokestacks in the middle of the right center are just known as the Reds and add a nice stadium piece to the backdrop.

7. Minute Maid Park - Houston Astros

The big piece that makes this one of the best is the train station in left field, paying homage to the train station that the stadium was built into.

It’s not one of the more open parks in the league, but with the train station and the look of the city behind it, it has become one of the best.

6. Petco Park - San Diego Padres

Here you are staring straight into the back of the city. It's open through the center of the field, but still has a stadium staple with the Western Metal.

Western Metal Supply Co. is a building that was built into the stadium and turned into club seats that have become one of the most well-known park features in the league.

5. Camden Yards - Baltimore Orioles

You’re again placed right in the middle of the city, and on the outside of the stadium, you’re on the harbor and in a great area to walk to the stadium.

One of the most notable parts of Camden Yards is the warehouse spanning down the first baseline and has become a staple in stadium talks.

4. Oracle Park - San Francisco Giants

One of the best parts about a ballpark is when it is right on the water. It adds a different feature to a ballpark instead of the typical city. When you can kayak and catch a baseball, it's a good day.

This whole stadium gives off a beach vibe with the palm trees spanning across left field, and how could you forget the giant Coke bottle?

3. PNC Park - Pittsburgh Pirates

During the day, this might be the best-looking stadium in the league. It’s very open and you are placed right in the middle of the city.

One of the best things about this part is the Clemente bridge in Pittsburgh, yellow, which just fits the city perfectly and is a nice ode to Roberto Clemente.

2. Busch Stadium - St. Louis Cardinals

The city engulfs this entire backdrop from foul pole to foul pole, and one of the biggest staples is the arch right in the middle of centerfield.

Another nice part is the two Cardinals sitting on the Budweiser logo that have worked their way into being a significant part of that unique backdrop.

1. Dodger Stadium - Los Angeles Dodgers

There is not much more that you can add to this stadium. The mountains in the background is the best view in the league.

One of the best things about it is that the outfield stands are on the lower side so that you can see straight out into the forests of LA.
