UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa – The 2024 THON pep rally is docked into history. Saturday night at 7 p.m., the main event of the day sparked the full BJC to life.

The pep rally started with the Blue Band and a performance by the members of the Majorettes and the Blue Sapphire. After the performance from the Blue Band, it followed with the emcees.

The emcees for the event were former Penn State Quarterback, Christian Hackenberg, and bronze Olympic Field Hockey winner, Char Morett-Curtiss.

Different Penn State Athletics danced against each other during the pep rally to win the trophy.

The sports included in this competition were Women's Soccer, Men’s Soccer, Women's Volleyball, Football, Lionettes, Men's Gymnastics, Field Hockey, Women's Hockey, Women’s Golf, Women's Tennis, Women's Lacrosse, Women's Fencing, Men’s Swim & Diving and Women’s Swim & Diving.

Four Diamonds kids came as judges for the day as they watched every performance and picked which ones they liked the most.

Women's Lacrosse started off the competition strong as they strummed their lacrosse sticks to the end, but their strong start would quickly be overpowered by the Men's Gymnastics flipping routine. In true gymnastics style, this team flipped and tricked their way to the BJC’s entertainment heart.

The Men's Gymnastics performances shocked the BJC so much that the Pep Rally was delayed due to technical difficulties. However, the entertainment did not stop. The Dance relations captains took the diamond stage to do the hourly line dance. In a turn of events, the audio did not work right away and that made the BJC lighten up.

After only a little bit, the pep rally was back on. The rest of the sports teams would perform as usual. Some standout performances were from Women's Soccer and Lionettes.

The finalists were announced at the end of all the performances. The 2024 THON dance finalists were Women's Soccer and Men's Gymnastics.

After each finalist performed their routine again, the Four Diamond kids came on stage and gave their favorites. The voting was 3-2, which made Men's Gymnastics the 2024 THON pep rally champion.
