"The White Lotus" Season 3 Episode 7 review
“The White Lotus” - Season 3 Episode 7
Another week has flown by, which means a new episode of "The White Lotus." One week away from the finale, when our questions will finally be answered.
The finale will be airing live on HBO this Sunday at 9 p.m. and available for streaming on Max. In this episode, Greg hosts his party while Gaitok and Mook finally go out on a date, and the pot stirs for the adverse friend group, Jaclyn, Laurie and Kate.
Throughout the episode, there are obvious tensions between Jaclyn, Laurie and Kate, as well as throws of shade and long periods of silence. Who would've thought their extravagant girls’ trip would tear them apart?
Now that Jaclyn’s secret hookup, the last episode’s elephant in the room, is out in the open, the girls start to blame each other.
Laurie thinks that Jaclyn messed up badly and should be sorry, but Jaclyn and Kate seem to think that Laurie constantly victimizes herself while genuinely disappointed with her life.
Although Kate is trying to stay out of trouble, she can’t help but get involved and Laurie considers her to be fake and fronting her whole life.
As for Kate and Jaclyn, they hold a negative energy against each other while Laurie stays out all night with the boys at a kickboxing event.
After almost a whole season, the viewers get to see Gaitok and Mook go out together for a night of dinner and kickboxing. The two get along perfectly until they mention that Gaitok is not getting a promotion.
Gaitok says that he is anti-violence, but Mook thought he’d be more ambitious for his job. Fans are continuing to root for their love story, but we will have to see if Mook’s disappointment persists.
While at the kickboxing event, Gaitok sees Valentin and his friends across the room with Laurie and realizes it was them who robbed the hotel jewelry store. He may not be one for violence but this is certainly a conflict he must get involved in.
As for the ghost of seasons past, Greg hosts his big party after stating in the last episode that he has a “plan to deal with something.” The party has not completely hit the fan in this episode, but it’s not over.
Greg does encounter Belinda and offers her $100,000 in thought of what Tanya would want and admits that he has nothing to do with her death. Belinda claims she needs the time to think about this as it’s clearly a payoff, but her son insists she should take it to stay safe from Greg.
Rick’s side plot in Bangkok comes to an end after he visits Jim Hollinger, the man whom he believes is responsible for his father’s death.
During his visit, Hollinger expresses that he always wanted to prove he was the king of the hill as a young man and Rick mentions that people don’t know when to stop.
When the conversation is not clear, Rick mentions his father whom Hollinger doesn't remember. This results in Rick pulling out his gun but ultimately deciding to run out and leave the conflict as a threat.
This was one of the biggest disappointments of the season after Rick’s storyline was hidden for so long. While it is certainly anticlimactic, maybe he can redeem himself in the finale.
The Ratliff family has probably had their most unproblematic episode yet. Piper and Lochlan find relief by staying overnight in the monastery. Lochlan enjoys it so much that he is considering moving there alongside Piper.
On the other hand, Saxon continues to question his father’s unusual behavior but cannot seem to get any explanation from him. The episode leaves off with Timothy puzzled as to where his stolen gun has gone and Laurie getting into a taxi all alone, leaving Kate with no answers.
A lot of realizations have occurred during this episode to build up for the ominous finale only a few days away! The drama is everywhere, but the entire cast of characters has had few moments altogether. Maybe Greg’s party can pull everybody together again for the finale. With different plots blowing up, there may be multiple deaths in Thailand this season. All questions will be answered Sunday night when "The White Lotus" returns.
