“The White Lotus” - Season 3 Episode 6

There are two simple questions regarding every season of Mike White’s The White Lotus: Who dies in the end and who goes so far out of their mind to kill him or her?

With the season finale less than two weeks away, tensions are heating up and the plots are thickening heavily. The White Lotus is featured on Max streaming services and live on HBO every Sunday at 9 p.m. to keep up.

White, the director and creator of the series, is famously known for his television writing, directing and producing. He also became the runner-up of the 2018 season of Survivor, a tribal reality competition show.

The show is known for its storytelling features of parallel plots which bring the cast together on numerous occasions as they each travel and vacation separately.

This season’s cast rolled in with many great actors like Patrick Schwarzenegger, Leslie Bibb, Parker Posey and Michelle Monaghan. This season is set in Thailand with hints of the culture, language, dancing, religion and mannerisms.

Cast member Lalisa Manobal is better known in Thailand as a member of the most successful female K-pop group Blackpink.

In this episode as well as the last, the conflict has begun to take off and tensions are appearing between many characters, internally and externally.

Forever friends Jaclyn and Laurie are now fighting over their hotel employee, Valentin, who seemed to stay overnight at Jaclyn’s place, despite her husband being countries away.

This part of the plot has been foreseen numerous times throughout the season as the friends take turns talking about each other behind the other’s backs.

On the other hand, Saxon is trying to completely forget about his night out with his brother Lochlan after questioning parts of his sexuality. While he intended on scoring his brother a one-night stand on vacation, he clearly did not expect to take any part in it.

This was a curveball that came out of nowhere, but The White Lotus will always be known for its satirical complexes and unexpected plot twist towards the end of the seasons.

The diversion of the brothers being out of the hotel together all of the time is key to enhancing the drama between their parents and their sister, Piper.

Piper, who has recently decided to seek out Buddhism, is having trouble convincing her parents to let her move to Thailand and chooses to enlighten them by bringing them to the monastery.

While her mother is still conflicted and having a hard time without her medication, Timothy, Piper’s father, is won over by speaking to the abbot.

Truly, he does not seem to care for Piper’s goals but is rather struggling with his suicidal thoughts; and it seems that the visit was his last string before needing to find peace with his legal issues.

Luckily, Gaitok, the hotel security guard, steals back his gun before Timothy can attempt to use it again.

The episode ends with Greg having plans to throw a party on his boat. This is after finding out one of the brothers had slept with his girlfriend. Belinda is already worried about his presence knowing that he must have participated in Tanya’s death last season.

Will the other characters end up just like Tanya? Is Victoria going to stay sane without her medication? What will happen to Belinda if Greg finds out that she knows? There are only two more episodes left to tell and everybody knows Mike White does not like to keep things calm.
