Taylor Switft's "The Eras Tour" Concert Film Annouced

Taylor Swift has done it again. The Eras Tour Concert Film (directed by Sam Wrench) is coming to theaters on Oct.13. This is not Swift's first concert film, as many of her concerts are available on Netflix, Disney+, or able to be bought on YouTube.
The Eras Tour Concert Film is in a completely different league and atmosphere. Rolling Stone has called The Eras Tour and The Eras Tour Concert Film “A career spanning victory lap”.
The Eras Tour began Mar. 17, 2023, in Glendale, AZ, and is set to finish on Nov. 23, 2024, in Toronto, Canada. This tour has changed the world, with it being the most interactive, containing the widest range of music, and with every show sold out.
For the first time in Swift’s career, a concert film will be in theaters all throughout North America. Participating theaters are AMC, Cinemark and Regal, which already have online queues to purchase tickets. For Swifties, it’s nothing out of the ordinary and the excitement persists through the wait time.
AMC theaters have confirmed a special edition popcorn bucket and large cup for those who have opening night tickets. Regal and Cinemark have not confirmed merch items, but it can be assumed that they will also provide souvenirs for the Swifties.
With the ongoing Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists strike going on this film is coming at the perfect time for movie theaters.
Additionally, Swift’s concert film is on both unions' list of approved interim agreement projects meaning the songstress isn’t crossing any picket lines.
In the trailer posted by Taylor Swift on social media, the concert film does not appear to be one specific date, which is contrary to Swift’s previous concert films. The Reputation Stadium Tour was filmed in Arlington, TX and the 1989 World Tour was filmed in Sydney, Australia.
The Eras Tour trailer depicts scenes from various shows, which is noticeable by recognizing how Swift’s hair changes (due to various weather conditions) in the trailer.
This collage of Eras Tour performances will allow the audience to connect deeper with the concert film. Instead of watching a distinct show from one city, they will be able to catch glimpses from all over North America and possibly see their own show for a split second.
The concert film is set to run for two hours and forty-five minutes, which is slightly shorter than the tour's concert of three hours. It is debated if the film will contain the “surprise songs” or shorten transitions and possibly some select songs.
It was confirmed that The Eras Tour Concert Film will contain the official setlist songs, but that still leaves some songs in the air.
Specific moments that will possibly be left out of the film are when openers for the Eras Tour performed songs with Swift. When on the tour HAIM performed “No Body, No Crime” in the Evermore set and Phoebe Bridgers performed “Nothing New” in the Red set.
It can be assumed special songs like those will also be left out of the film and will remain special for those exact tour locations.
There are disputes on social media questioning if The Eras Tour Concert Film will be the only documentation of the tour. Fans have speculated that a documentary about the creation and production of the tour will be separately released in 2024 once the tour is finished.
This has not been confirmed but it would be wonderful for fans all over the world once Swift has finished her world tour.
