Super Bowl Trailer Reactions

“Wicked”

The Super Bowl felt a little light on trailers, especially considering how many were released in years past, but the one that left the room talking was “Wicked.”

When the trailer came on early in the first quarter, the room silenced in anticipation, and well… it showcased the film.

I wasn’t blown away by the trailer and was left confused by a crucial piece of revealed information: the film's name.

The film has been said to be a two-part film, which would make perfect sense as it has a logical stopping point with the play having an intermission following the iconic “Defying Gravity.”

It will allow the story to develop without feeling super rushed, which has been an issue with previous musical to film adaptations.

However, the title card just called it “Wicked” without adding a part one, which could be a marketing technique as moviegoers often dislike two-part films, and box office numbers reflect that.

Whether it is one or two parts, I’m sure it will be a “Wonderful” film and one of the more “Popular” ones to come out this year. - Ben Palillo

“Deadpool & Wolverine”

It’s finally happening. Marvel is absolutely back, get locked in.

During the Super Bowl commercial breaks a teaser was shown for the new movie “Deadpool & Wolverine,” and the trailer was posted online.

The trailer is something of a magnificent masterpiece, assuming its place in The Louvre next to Miss Mona Lisa.

Truly the statement is real and makes the sun shine brighter than ever: Marvel. Is. Back.

The trailer opens with the two most unexpected surprises: Matthew Macfadyen and the TVA.

Matthew Macfadyen, king of “Succession” and who played Mr. Darcy from “Pride and Prejudice” seems to have quite a vital role in this film, and praise to the casting director for inviting him to join the Marvel franchise.

The TVA also shows up immediately at the start of the trailer and seems to be a huge plot line for the film. Is this the combination of the Marvel Universe that has been long expected? Will we see Johnny Storm, Wolverine, Rocket Racoon and Bucky Barnes in a scene altogether?

The movie is set to release on July 26, 2024. That means there are 165 days to watch the entire “Loki” series, all the “X-Men” movies and two “Deadpool” movies.

Deadpool is known for his vulgar nature and hilarious jokes, and that's exactly what this trailer brings. Most every other Deadpool movie is rated R, so it can be assumed this will be of a similar vibe.

The huge question still stands of how Wolverine fits into this plot line, and that is certainly not answered in the trailer. Hugh Jackman is actually never shown, only his magnificent claws and insane hairstyle.

Ryan Reynolds finally made history with this trailer by posting a photo on Instagram captioned “Has everyone seen the #Deadpool trailer? Also, has anyone seen my wife?” The comment section went crazy by responding with various jokes, such as: “She’s Taylor Swift’s wife tonight,” “She’s at the Taylor Swift concert” and “She just dropped an F-bomb.”

In summary, as said in the trailer, “Deadpool is the Messiah, Marvel Jesus” -Grace Bowman
