Summer Internships
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- With the Spring semester started, Penn State students are looking for summer internships to cultivate their skills in conjunction with their major or majors. There are many outlets for students to find internships for their respected passions and each college does a fantastic job in supporting their students. First-year Penn State student majoring in political science Dawson Glogau shares his experience with his college.
“A really great resource and opportunity I’ve used has been the Career Enrichment Network over at the College of Liberal Arts,” Glogau said. “It has been super helpful and the people over there are super nice.”
But applying for internships and securing those internships aren’t as easy as you might think. Penn State students faced some challenges along the way while applying and with some students not even securing internships until their senior year, or not securing any by the time they graduate. Fourth-year student, majoring in Psychology, Kelly Sullivan had this to say about her challenges with applying to internships.
“Some of the biggest challenges I had about finding internships and opportunities is the overwhelmingness of it,” Sullivan said. “There is so much out there and just navigating that could be very difficult.”
Sullivan further added that, “Reaching out to people and having them help you navigate the internship process always helps.”
Penn State has various internships that you can apply to, but you need to know where to look for them if you want to eventually score your “dream job” in the future. Visit https://studentaffairs.psu.edu to get started on your internship journey.
