State College Food Deals

Penn State Students know at least one thing: while there is no shortage of places to eat in State College, there can sometimes be a shortage of funds. However, while some students can fall on less fortunate times, restaurants in State College are here to offer some great deals.

It should be noted that the most important qualification for any of these choices is that the quality or amount of food greatly exceeds the price being paid for it. Here’s your guide for finding all the best meals while saving as much as possible.

Mclanahan’s

The deal: $1.50 off of any breakfast sandwich

When: 8pm-11pm Monday-Friday

Personally, this is my favorite deal in State College. I often frequent a loaded breakfast sandwich with the works: a hashbrown, eggs, cheese, pork roll and bacon, and with this deal it could cost as little as $4.50. A sandwich, that rich with contents, could cost as much as $10 among other breakfast eateries in the area.

Brothers Bar & Grill

The deal: A burger and fries for $4.50

When: Tuesdays

Perhaps the best deal in all of State College. For just three dollars, you can get a burger, add an order of fries and you have dinner for just $4.50, while a drink could cost only as much as $2 extra. There could be stipulations surrounding the quality of Brothers’ food and service, and while their cheeseburgers aren’t the best in State College, this meal will not disappoint.

Sauly Boys

The deal: Chicken tenders basket, fries and drink for $9.95

When: Wednesday

While it’s not the most famous deal at Sauly Boys, a chicken basket, fries and drink for just $9.95 is a good deal anywhere. Then, add in the standard quality of Sauly Boys’ food and it becomes a great deal. I’ve felt that Sauly Boys have made an improvement to their fries this fall semester, and their chicken tenders are some of the best around.

Allen Street Pizza

The deal: Any two slices of pizza, a breadstick and a refillable drink for $8.00

When: Always

On the surface, it may not sound like much, but the Allen Street breadsticks are no joke. Almost filling up an entire tray, you’ll have more than enough food on your plate with this deal. Allen Street Pizza offers an abundance of different flavors of pizzas, such as buffalo, barbeque, chicken bacon and ranch, mac and cheese, meat lovers and many more options, all of which are eligible for this deal. Throw in a bottomless drink, and you have a filling meal for $8.

Giuseppe’s Pizzeria

The deal: Any two slices of pizza and one drink for $7.99

When: Always

Where Giuseppe’s $8 deal lacks a breadstick in comparison to Allen Street Pizza’s $8 deal, it makes up in larger, and better slices. Ask any State College inhabitant and they will tell you that the best pizza in town resides at Giuseppe’s Pizzeria. With a plethora of different slice options, any two will make this deal something you don’t want to miss out on.
