Some possible SNL hosts and co-host that would be great for the show
Daisy Edgar-Jones
While most would think that Glen Powell is the correct “Twisters” (2024) alum to host “Saturday Night Live,” some are rooting for his co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones.
Although usually lauded as a serious actress, Edgar-Jones showed her funny bone while on the “Twisters” press tour. From making TikTok videos to “Apple” by Charli XCX with her co-stars to describing herself as a “silly goose” on YouTuber Brittany Broski’s “Royal Court,” Edgar-Jones has shown a funny side.
After gaining recognition for her performance in the miniseries “Normal People,” she went on to star in the movies “Where the Crawdads Sing” and “Fresh.”
The “Twisters” press tour might have brought most people a Glen Powell summer, some found it charming that a serious British actress had to shotgun a beer on stage at a Luke Combs concert.
Since “SNL” has been so good with pairing their hosts and musical guests the last few seasons, Edgar-Jones could be accompanied by almost anyone. It would make sense to see her with someone indie, a pop girl or even a country singer after this summer. – Izzy Charboneau
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
An anniversary season like 50 should have some alumni visits, and who better than Julia Louis-Dreyfus?
Since being a cast member in the early 1980s, Louis-Dreyfus has returned to host three times, most recently in 2016.
In 2024, her starring role in “Veep” came back into the national zeitgeist because of its parallels to the real world in which Vice President Kamala Harris made a run for the U.S. presidency. Louis-Dreyfus won six Emmys for her role as Vice President Selina Meyer in the show.
In her April 2016 appearance, she played a version of her “Seinfeld” character Elaine Benes asking prospective presidential candidate Bernie Sanders (Larry David) questions at a town hall. It could be interesting to do a more recent spin on this and have her reprise her “Veep” character to talk about current events.
Besides all of this, Louis-Dreyfus is simply one of the greatest of all time, and it’s been a while since she’s graced the stage at 30 Rockefeller Center. – Izzy Charboneau
