Singles Round Up: Oct. 21

Singles Round Up – The Arts and Entertainment Department takes a look at some of the recently released singles from the past week.

“Hold On” - Bailey Zimmerman

Bailey Zimmerman is a country star on the rise. He first gained fame for his song “Rock and A Hard Place” in 2022. He has since released two albums and has been nominated for multiple music awards.

“Hold On” is a simple yet powerful single. While Zimmerman’s subject is a romantic relationship, the song itself can reach a broader audience. The song has a universal moral.

The lyricism isn’t the most intellectual but it is poetic. “If this was your last breath would you waste it on me?” Come on…beautiful!

While it is similar to many other country songs, it brought a fresh sound.

This song’s instrumentation is what really makes this a smash. The main instrument used was an acoustic guitar. A true classic and that allows the song to breathe on its own.

Even the message is uplifting for the listener. “Will you be strong and keep holding on?” There’s a sense of hope, love and growth.

Overall, “Hold On” was a delightful new single. Go listen to it on any streaming platform!
