“OMG Remix” - Candelita, Pitbull and Silvestre Dangond

The 2024 New York Mets have it all – Grimace, a playoff pumpkin and a Latin pop star who just released an all-time hype song.

Infielder Jose Iglesias, also known as Candelita, announced on May 31 that he was releasing a song called “OMG” two days after former reliever Jorge Lopez threw his glove into the stands and called the Mets the worst team in the league.

At the time, nobody thought twice about a Latin pop track. But Iglesias said at the end of the interview, “I hope you guys like it.”

And everybody in Queens did.

“OMG” is about fighting for your dreams and making them come true, and for this year’s Mets, nothing else rings true.

After the widespread success of the track and the Mets' postseason run, Iglesias announced that megastar Pitbull and Silvestre Dangond would join him on the track.

In a year full of ups and downs for the boys in Queens, Iglesias’s song has brought life back to Citi Field, and fans will never forget that. - Adrianna Gallucci
