Singles Round Up: Feb. 26
Singles Round Up – The Arts and Entertainment Department takes a look at some of the recently released singles from the past week.
“Run Back to You” - LAY & Lauv
“Run Back to You” is such a fun song! Finding a track that’s both good quality and frabjous is hard.
LAY is a Chinese rapper and singer, known for being in the K-pop circuit in the early 2000s. Lauv is an American singer-songwriter who’s had multiple popular hits in recent years. This unlikely pair is masterful in their craft.
For “Run Back to You,” the pair collaborated with seven other well-known songwriters. While it is a simple song in lyrics, the vibe is immaculate. Think two people finally get together and it’s intense or take a turn and think of a summer day drive.
The only thing that was confusing was the title of the song. “Run Back to You” works, but it says “why we keep making the same mistakes?” throughout the song. “Same Mistakes” makes more sense, personally.
Otherwise, the production, vocals, lyrics, everything hit. It’s definitely a new favorite. Go check it out!
