Sarah Gavlak: My Spotify Wrapped 2024
Top Song: “The Black Dog” - Taylor Swift
Top Artist: Taylor Swift
Minutes Listened: 15,387
With “The Tortured Poets Department” releasing this year, my Spotify Wrapped was guaranteed to be a Taylor Swift sweep.
My top listened-to song of the year was none other than “The Black Dog” from “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.” “The Black Dog” quickly became my favorite track off the icon’s newest album, so I was not surprised by this at all.
TTPD dominated my top five songs, but “Supercut” by Lorde, “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter and “II MOST WANTED” by Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus took sixth, seventh and eighth place on my Top 100.
My top artist was obviously Swift, with Kenny Chesney taking second place. This may seem like a 180 turnaround, but let’s not forget about Chesney’s live performance recording of “Big Star (with Taylor Swift).”
The best part of this year’s Spotify Wrapped was the “Music Evolution” section. My March was “Serotonin Abstract Bedroom Pop,” my April was “Pink Pilates Princess Strut Pop” and my May was “Breakup Slow Dance Country.”
My Top 100 playlist is a perfect mix of my pop girlies and all my favorite country songs. I’m from rural Pennsylvania, so I will not take any criticism for being a fan of 2010s country music.
This year’s Wrapped has certainly called me out for being basic, but why fix something that isn’t broken? - Sarah Gavlak
