“Dancing With The Stars” Season 32 Episode 11
Season 32 of “Dancing With The Stars” has come to an end, with the finale airing and revealing who the winner of the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy was.
The opening number featured every celebrity cast in season 32 of the show that had since been eliminated.
Descending from the ceiling at the end of the performance were the five remaining celebrities who made it to the finals, each sat atop a giant mirrorball that lowered them to the floor.
The remaining couples performed “redemption dances” for the first round of the finale competition.
Judge Carrie Ann Inaba first chose a salsa for Alyson Hannigan and her partner Sasha Farber to perform. Their first salsa was in week one, so Hannigan’s growth was clear to see during their second-chance salsa.
Next to dance was Jason Mraz with his partner Daniella Karagach. Bruno Tonioli chose for the star to redeem his foxtrot, and the couple scored three 10s.
Derek Hough was the judge to give Ariana Madix some advice on how to redeem her samba with partner Pasha Pashkov. The couple earned two 10s from Tonioli and Hough, but received a nine from Inaba due to some minuscule errors.
Inaba stepped in again to advise Charity Lawson and her partner Artem Chigvintsev, giving them a tango. Hough thought it was the “best dance of the night so far,” and the couple earned a 39 out of 40.
Last to redeem herself was Xochitl Gomez, who was challenged by Tonioli to revisit the foxtrot with her partner Val Chmerkovskiy. They promptly earned a perfect score for their “smooth as silk” dance.
After round one of dancing, reigning champions Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas returned to the ballroom, performing a flawless Latin dance.
Before the second-round freestyle dances kicked off, the professional troupe took the stage for a Christmas-themed number.
The pros were joined by hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough. To everyone’s surprise, however, the DWTS hosts were not the only ones to hit the dance floor again.
Former pro Witney Carson, who won season 19 with Ribeiro, Hélio Castroneves, who won season 5 with J. Hough, season 28 winner Hannah Brown and season 24 winner Rashad Jennings were all special guests during the holly jolly performance.
The fan-favorite freestyle round was up next. All ballroom rules go out the window during this part of the competition, giving the celebrities and their partners total creative freedom.
Lawson’s freestyle was the first up. She and Chigvintsev paid homage to her days as a competitive cheerleader. It was a performance like no other, including flips, lifts and tricks featuring the cast of Netflix’s “Cheer.”
Next up was Mraz and Karagach, who performed a never-ending routine inspired by fast-paced ballroom styles. It was an extremely impressive and upbeat dance, making everyone in the ballroom smile.
Madix then took the stage with a sassy and popstar-like performance. It was Pashkov’s first time in the finale as a pro, but his freestyle choreography earned the pair a perfect score.
Hannigan and Farber did their freestyle next, performing a slow and elegant dance that transitioned into some more upbeat choreography for the remainder of the routine.
The last couple to perform their freestyle was Gomez and Chmerkovskiy. Gomez eulogized her heritage with their routine that scored a 30 out of 30.
The time came to announce the winners of season 32. Fifth place went to Hannigan, fourth place went to Lawson and third place went to Madix, leaving Mraz and Xochitl as the final two.
Tensions rose as fans waited for the hosts to crown the victor. The winners of “Dancing With The Stars” season 32 were announced to be Gomez and Chmerkovskiy, who received the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.
That’s a wrap on season 32 of DWTS, and fans of the show are already excited for next season.
