Rank It: American Horror Story

By Megan Kelby

Posters for former seasons of American Horror Story

11. Roanoke

So boring and confusing to follow. It’s bearable only by the redneck family scenes because it was the most realistic portion.

10. NYC

A combination of 1984 mixed with Hotel. Very gory, but nothing special. Definitely better than Roanoke.

9. 1984

The Matthew Morrison feature was scary, to say the least. This season was redeemable solely for the 80s vibes.

8. Double Feature

The first six episodes were a flop and a half. It was significantly more interesting when they worked in the historical portions of the U.S. government in the second half.

7. Apocalypse

Only ranked high because of its inter-season connection. The reveal of who was in charge of the bunkers was insane.

6. Freak Show

I cannot eat while watching this season for whatever reason. It was disappointing that the clown was so overhyped in the previews but barely touched on.

5. Cult

PLOT TWISTS. Scarily realistic and also the origin of the Sarah Paulson Scream.

4. Asylum

Home to one of the best plot twists in AHS history, but other than that it was painfully boring (minus all the Evan Peters screen time in it.)

3. Coven

Another round of a Taissa Farmiga and Evan Peters’ love story. The literal definition of 2013 vibes.

2. Murder House

There’s something about a pregnant lady eating brains and a mutant cannibal baby named Thaddeus living in the basement that makes this the ultimate Halloween season. Also Taissa Farmiga and Evan Peters as a couple.

1. Hotel

Lady. Gaga. This was the first season that had MULTIPLE twists that I did not see coming.
