Premier League Week 11 Review

By Owen Cameros

Tottenham Falls From Olympus

Chelsea won this game 4-1, boring match right. Not exactly.

This game featured five goals, five disallowed goals, two red cards, and Tottenham playing a high line with only nine players on the field.

I can’t even begin to describe the craziness that happened in this game. All I will say is watch the highlights on YouTube. There’s a reason the highlights are 18 minutes long.

Congrats to Nicolas Jackson on his first Premier League hat trick. Even if it did take him a dozen chances and 97 minutes. Congratulations, as well, to Tottenham for holding first place until November. Chances are they won’t return to first place for the rest of the season.

Luton Town Draw Against Liverpool

European giants Liverpool traveled to Luton Sunday to play the premier league newcomers.

Liverpool dominated the game from start to finish, yet in the 80th minute, Luton Town took the lead after a counterattack that started from their goal line. In other words, Luton Town picked off Liverpool in the back of the endzone and ran it back 105 yards for a touchdown.

For the next 15 minutes, it looked as though Luton had pulled off a monumental upset. However, in the 95th minute, Liverpool’s star striker, Luis Diaz, scored an equalizer.

Luton Town couldn’t gain all three points versus Liverpool. However, this draw propelled Luton out of relegation and into Premier League safety for now.

Newcastle Beats Arsenal

Two years ago, Newcastle and Arsenal would’ve been a mid-table clash. Now, it’s a Champions League matchup.

Last week, Arsenal traveled to Saint James’ Park to face Newcastle. In the 64th minute of this fiery match, Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon scored the deciding goal. Joseph Willock crossed a ball into the box that David Raya couldn’t control. Gordon got to the loose ball first, tapping it into the back of the net.

Gordon’s goal sparked controversy this week. During the buildup to the goal, it looked like the ball crossed the touchline for an Arsenal throw-in.

VAR could not find conclusive evidence the ball went out of play. I’ll let you be the judge.

Man City Bash Bournemouth

At the weekend, Manchester City thumped Bournemouth 6-1, overtaking Tottenham for first place in the process.

You would think that if City scored six goals, Earling Haaland would be responsible for most of them. Nope.

Instead, Man City’s attacking power came from 21-year-old Jeremy Doku, who was involved in five of City’s six goals.

Doku had a goal and four assists, yet somehow still didn’t have a perfect score on Fotmob.

What more does the man need to do?
