Penn State’s Annual Homecoming Parade
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - On Friday, September 27, Penn State hosted its annual Homecoming Parade. This year's theme was “ In every roar, tradition soars.”
During the parade, floats made their way from East Halls, through campus, down College Avenue and up to the Lion Shrine. A route lined with past, present, and future Penn State community members.
The homecoming parade is one of Penn State’s oldest traditions that connects students, faculty, staff, and alumni. During homecoming, the legacy of the university is celebrated as well as a unified sense of pride.
First responders and the ROTC program led the parade followed by various Greek organizations as well as Penn State’s very own Lionettes, Cheerleaders and Blue Band. A special performance from the Alumni Blue Band took place as well. Other community members and decked-out vehicles traveled in the parade, each representing a different entity.
The theme for THON 2025 was announced as well this weekend, it is “A Home For Hope.”
Through rainy fog the lights that lined campus lit up the streets of State College, providing a magical experience for those enjoying the parade.
The Nittany Lion appeared in the parade high-fiving spectators and increasing excitement surrounding the weekend's festivities. Candy, beads and even pizzas were handed out by parade participants. A spectacle to be enjoyed by all, from the oldest of alumni to the youngest of potential Penn Staters.
Homecoming weekend concluded on Saturday night with a Penn State Football victory against Illinois. The final score was 21-7.
