Penn State Stuns Maine in a 5-1 Win in Allentown

By Andrew Matz

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Matt DiMarsico sniped the game-winning shot top right in the first period for the Nittany Lions.

It was his first of a two goal night as Penn State defeated Maine by a score of 5-1 to advance to the Regional Final.

Not only was DiMarsico a star for the Nittany Lions last night, but so was his entire line which includes Charlie Cerrato and JJ Wiebusch.

“We compliment each other well and work well off each other,” Cerrato said.

Cerrato recorded three assists on the night while Wiebusch added a goal and an assist. Coach Guy Gadowsky continues to be pleased with what he has seen from the line.

“I think Chuck’s (Cerrato) line has been flying,” said Gadowsky. “They’ve been showing a lot of synergy."

Along with that line, Penn State has been a difficult team to handle offensively. Aiden Fink has had so much hype around him since he stepped on campus and has lived up to all of it.

Fink recorded an assist on the Wiebusch goal.

“Give them nothing” has become the identity of the team. The Nittany Lions credit it to backup goalie John Seifarth.

After having very slim odds to make the NCAA Tournament, Penn State has won 14 games in the second half of the season.

“I think really with this team is just their love to compete,” Gadowsky said. “Like their tough kids, but they love to compete again with everything.”

The Nittany Lions will need to continue to compete as they look to make the Frozen Four with a win against UConn on Sunday.
