UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – According to the State College Police Department, a 25-year-old international student at Penn State died due to injuries sustained in a pedestrian crash at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

A vehicle traveling westbound on the road crossed into the oncoming travel lane and struck the student, who was jogging on the sidewalk.

The student was brought to Mount Nittany Medical Center and was then transferred to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Altoona before passing away due to the injuries from the crash.

Penn State students received a University Park Alert at 8:42 p.m. that Park Avenue would be closed between Allen and Bigler roads due to a traffic accident.

“Alcohol and/or drug use is not believed to be a factor,” a release from the SCPD stated.

This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone who may have information is asked to report it to the State College Police Department.
