Earlier today, Josie Bothun announced via Instagram that she will be transferring to Bemidji State.

Bothun, who was sidelined the second half of this season due to surgery, is a senior at Penn State. Bothun has one year left of eligibility due to COVID-19.

This season, Bothun only played 22 games and had a 10-10-1 record with a .911 save percentage and a 2.32 GAA.

Bothun has been a star at Penn State ever since her first season, shattering multiple Penn State records such as Penn State's win record with 70 and the shutout record with 19.

Bothun also became Penn State's first-ever USCHO.com national award winner as the 2020-21 Rookie of the Year. That season, she went 16-3-2 with a .944 save percentage and a 1.49 GAA.

Bothun will play alongside goaltenders Eva Filippova and Abbie Thompson at Bemidji State. Madison Faucher was the third goalie this season for Bemidji State but entered the transfer portal this March according to Gopher Puck Live.

Bothun is from Wyoming, Minnesota, and noted in her Instagram post that she is excited to be “a bit closer to home.”

Bothun had an amazing four years at Penn State and will be remembered as one of the, if not the greatest goaltender Penn State women’s hockey ever had.
