Penn State Lands Commitment From Four-Star Forward Mason Blackwood

Penn State men’s basketball secured a commitment from class of 2025 forward Mason Blackwood, he announced Wednesday night live on 247Sports College Basketball Show.
Blackwood joins 2025 center Justin Houser and becomes the second commitment in the 2025 recruiting cycle for head coach Mike Rhoades.
He is ranked as the No. 102 recruit nationally in his class and the No. 4 ranked player in New Hampshire by 247Sports.
After visiting Penn State officially on September 6th, Blackwood chose the Nittany Lions over fellow Big Ten member Rutgers.
He also held offers from Boston College, Marquette, Northwestern, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Washington and West Virginia.
Standing 6-foot-7 and weighing 210 pounds, Blackwood attends New Hampton School in New Hampshire.
Blackwood made strides this summer with an impressive performance in the Nike EYBL Peach Jam in Augusta, South Carolina.
Playing for the City Rocks from New York, Blackwood averaged 9.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in five games played during the event.
He’s improved his ability to shoot from beyond the arc this year, nailing 46% of his three-point attempts during the EYBL season.
As he continues to fill out, he projects to be a combo forward who can play inside and on the perimeter.
Rhoades and his staff continue to bring in top talent and become one of two teams, joining Wisconsin, to land multiple recruits in the class of 2025.
They will look to bolster their recruiting class once again after a strong four-man class in 2024 that ranked inside the Top-25 in the nation.
Penn State men’s basketball will begin its 2024-25 season on Nov. 4 against Binghamton inside the Bryce Jordan Center.
