Penn State in the NFL | Week 10
Week ten brought some interesting matchups with several top teams on their bye week, but former Penn Staters still dominated the gridiron — here’s how they fared.
Chris Stoll, Long Snapper, Seattle Seahawks
The Washington Commanders took the lead with moments to go in Sunday’s clash. Geno Smith led the Seahawks down the field to set up the game-winning field goal.
Jason Myers scored the game-winner with a 43-yard kick in the final seconds of the game.
In the interviews that followed post-game, Myers quickly commended Stoll for his first game-winning snap. “It was perfect,” Myers said.
Stoll was signed in May by Seattle as an undrafted free agent.
Joey Porter Jr., CB, Pittsburgh Steelers
The rookie cornerback continues to dominate the secondary in his second game as a starter.
Against the Green Bay Packers, the Steelers held on to win 23-19 for its second straight win.
Porter Jr. tallied four tackles, including three solo. Pittsburgh has dealt with several defensive injuries, so having the younger players step up is key.
Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
For the first time in four weeks, the Buccaneers added to their win column with a 20-6 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
The wide receiver racked up 54 yards on four receptions. His longest catch was for 17, and three of his plays moved the chains for the Buccaneers.
Godwin hasn’t found the end zone since the loss to Buffalo two weeks ago, but he consistently remains a top target for Baker Mayfield. His performance on Sunday pushed his season total over the 500 mark with 522 total.
With a tough road test against the San Francisco 49ers next week, a win against the Titans was pivotal to achieve at home.
Mike Gesicki, TE, New England Patriots
The Patriots played the NFL’s second game in Frankfurt against the Indianapolis Colts. In a low-scoring matchup, the Colts won 10-6.
Gesicki was targeted three times and made two receptions for 11 yards. Offensively, the Patriots have struggled all season and rank last in the AFC East with a record of 2-8.
Next week, New England remains on the road against the Giants before returning home in December when the Chargers come to Foxborough.
