Jennifer Lawrence

The Oscars were this past weekend, and there was one stunning woman everyone was excited to see again: Jennifer Lawrence.

Lawrence has made history at the Oscars with a total of four nominations. She was first nominated in 2011 at the age of 20 for “Winter’s Bone,” and won “Best Actress” in 2013 for “Silver Linings Playbook.” She was also nominated for “Best Supporting Actress” in 2015 for “American Hustle” and “Best Actress” in 2016 for “Joy.”

However, at the 2024 Oscars Lawrence was not nominated, yet was attending as a presenter for the “Best Actress” category. This is an ode to the 2009 Oscars when this last occurred.

Although Lawrence should’ve been nominated for “Best Actress” in “No Hard Feelings,” fans everywhere were blessed and thrilled to see her on stage again nonetheless.

Lawrence showed up at the end of the Oscars red carpet wearing a Dior black and white polka strapless gown. She was spotted the day prior in the hair salon getting coloring touch-ups and was wearing her hair down at the Oscars.

The Dior gown had a beautiful over-the-shoulder shawl, which made the dress look regal and elegant. The real focus of the night was Lawrence’s wonderful makeup, which made her look young and timeless.

Lawrence did a select few interviews on the carpet, but she notably spoke with Amelia Dimoldenberg. Lawrence touched on her famous fall in 2013 and how the last time she attended the Oscars was when she was 25 years old.

Lawrence sat second row next to her husband Cooke Maroney and behind Emma Stone. The married couple were clearly enjoying the show elsewhere, as most of the time seat fillers were in their seats.

Lawrence presented Lily Gladstone, who was nominated for “Best Actress” in “Killers Of The Flower Moon.” Sadly, Gladstone did not win, and Stone ended up winning for “Poor Things.”

On stage Michelle Yeoh handed Lawrence the award to hand to Stone, stating that she wanted the two friends to share the moment. Lawrence was crying on stage as the pair shared a moment that will be remembered forever.

After the Oscars, Lawrence and Maroney went to Vanity Fair’s Annual Oscars After-Party with Stone and others. This party was sadly a no-photo event, however, there are rumors that Lawrence was seen speaking with Kris Jenner, Matthew McConaughey, Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce and Billie Eilish.

The most important aspect of Lawrence’s entire time at The Oscars would be the Givenchy 1996 archive sheer dress she wore. This was originally worn by Kate Moss, and Lawrence made it shine again after 28 years in storage.

The only photo of that evening was taken by Vanity Fair photographer Mark Seliger, and this photo deserves to be in the Louvre.

Even though Lawrence didn’t attend The Oscars as a nominee, she had a great time as a presenter and hopefully, in a few years, she’ll be on stage again accepting an award. -Grace Bowman

John Mulaney

One of the most incredible moments of the 2024 Oscars was John Mulaney presenting the award for Best Sound.

The question really is: why was John Mulaney at the Oscars at all?

He approached the stage without a personal motive. Was he promoting his own movie or comedy special? No, he was just there to serve an award and serve it well.

Mulaney pulled from “The Comeback Kid” his 2015 Netflix special.

In his show, he interrupts his story about meeting the future president by randomly spilling the whole plot of “The Fugitive.”

He did a similar thing on stage at the Oscars but instead, divulged the plot of “Field of Dreams.”

He delivered laughs without being self-absorbed or dry. The question now is: should Mulaney host the Oscars next year? -Savannah Swartz
