Old Dominion “No Bad Vibes” Tour
Old Dominion took the stage at the Bryce Jordan Center during their “No Bad Vibes” tour, and it was nothing short of astounding.
The Nashville-based country band has been touring all around the United States and traveled to State College, PA. on Dec. 1 to deliver an amazing performance.
The band was joined by openers Kylie Morgan and Chase Rice, as Morgan’s set started at 7:30 p.m.
The rising star started the night out with a bang, performing some of her more widely-known songs such as “I Only Date Cowboys” and “Sugar Daddy.”
Following this, Morgan asked the crowd if they liked Gwen Stefani. She then sang covers of “Sweet Escape,” “Rich Girl” and “Hollaback Girl.”
Morgan’s energy was perfect, and her gorgeous vocals showcased her evident talent. She ended her opening set with “If He Wanted To He Would.”
After a short break, Chase Rice took the stage as the second opener. Some songs he performed were “Bad Day To Be A Cold Beer,” “Cruise” and “Eyes On You.”
Rice brought his dog Jack, who was wearing a Penn State football jersey, onto the stage for the remainder of his set. He then performed “Bench Seat,” a song dedicated to Jack, and it was absolutely adorable.
After sitting patiently through “Bench Seat,” Jack ran around the stage allowing fans on the floor to pet him. Rice’s opening show ended with “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.”
Old Dominion came out around 9:30 p.m., starting their set with “Make It Sweet.”
The Old Dominion band members consist of Brad Tursi, Trevor Rosen, Geoff Sprung, Whit Seller and lead singer Matthew Ramsey.
The band did an amazing job at owning the stage, making sure to give every corner of the Bryce Jordan Center a winning performance.
The “No Bad Vibes” tour setlist focuses on the band’s whole discography rather than one single album, which Ramsey pointed out at the beginning of the show. He mentioned that they realized their fans wanted to “hear everything.”
After singing hit songs like “Break Up With Him,” “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart,” “I Should Have Married You” and “Written in the Sand,” the country stars took their first song request of the night.
A young girl in the pit was sporting rose-colored glasses, and she promptly held up a sign requesting “How Good Is That” for her birthday. Of course, Old Dominion took this request and performed it for the fan.
It was a super sweet moment, and everyone was ecstatic to hear “How Good Is That.”
Throughout the show, band member Tursi had guitar solos during some of the songs. His mesmerizing talent had the crowd in awe every time.
Standout songs from the rest of the concert were “Snapback,” “Hotel Key,” “Memory Lane” and “One Man Band.”
During Old Dominion’s opening song, a staff member approached my sisters and me with wristbands to move to the pit. It was an unreal moment, and switching from high and far-away seats to the floor was the highlight of our night.
My favorite part of the concert was hearing the band perform “Song For Another Time.” Being less than 10 feet away from Tursi and Ramsey was what really made the show sensational.
The band closed their State College stop with “I Was on a Boat That Day.” Knowing it was the last song made it a bittersweet moment, but the crowd roared in applause as the band took their bows and left the stage.
Old Dominion was a spectacular band to see live. The show was unforgettable from start to finish, and it definitely lived up to its “No Bad Vibes” theme.
