Offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich fired by Penn State

Penn State has made a change at offensive coordinator on Sunday.

The Nittany Lions have fired offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. Jon Sauber of the Centre Daily Times was the first to report the news.

His firing comes one day after the blue and white fell 24-15 against Michigan and struggled to move the ball down the field in the loss.

“We’ve got to do a better job of calling a game to allow our quarterback to get into rhythm,” Franklin said after Saturday’s loss. That is critical. We’ve got to find easy completions for a quarterback to get into rhythm. That’s what everybody does. We’ve got to do a good job of that. And then on top of that, although there weren’t sacks, there were too many pressures, and there were too many times where we were not creating separation.”

Yurcich was in his third season in Happy Valley after coming from the University of Texas after the 2020 campaign.

Franklin is now in search of his sixth offensive coordinator since 2014.
