NHL: Ranking Future Names And Logos For The Utah Hockey Club
The Utah Hockey Club has released images of the team's proposed new name and logos.
Fans who attend Utah Hockey Club home games have been asked to vote for their favorite of the three choices, which will determine the future brand of the team.
Here are the three names in contention:
Utah Mammoth:
Even though the three names that are on the table could be better, I personally believe that the Mammoth is the best choice that is being given.
The name Mammoth just seems to fit in perfectly with the team's color scheme and the city of Utah in general.
I think the fans have given this name the lead as of right now but we will have to wait and see after the season.
We are going to see a common theme with the logos as well, they all look just like custom branding logos from CHEL. -Austin
The names on the list are not ideal for what could’ve been for this team. However, the Mammoth is seemingly the best option of the three.
From a logo and overall team name standpoint, a mammoth can withstand an Avalanche, Utah’s closest geographical team, while also being able to fight off a Knight with its tusks.
The fans seemingly are also pretty big fans of this option compared to the other two and out of the three, this one sounds correct. The logos in this are direct connections to logos from CHEL. -Andrew
I think being named after mammoths is sick and the logo is pretty cool too. There is also some significance because just like some of the other names that were proposed, the Mammoth has to do with the cold which makes sense because of the weather in Utah. -Massimo
Utah Outlaws:
I really don’t mind the name Outlaws because I think this one also has ties to the city just like Mammoth.
I am glad this name was brought in for Wasatch because that was just pathetic and I think the fans agree.
I like the logo because of the renegade style but again, it just looks like a custom logo you would give the team you created in the video game. -Austin
This team name was a late addition to the competition. Outlaws replaced the team name of Wasatch. A lot of people were not fans of Wasatch, but the idea behind it was really cool. Because the team could not use Yeti, they tried to make a local version of Yeti.
Outlaws give the idea of a Wild-West type of feel, and Utah doesn’t necessarily fall under that idea. It would definitely be better than the final option but would be the second-best option out of the three available for the fans.
It wouldn’t be bad, but wouldn’t be great to have the Outlaws name connected to Utah. -Andrew
While sticking with the same name wouldn’t be ideal for Utah hockey fans, I think the logo makes its case much better.
A lot of people were pretty upset with the Yeti being turned down, but if the logo of the Utah Hockey Club is a Yeti, many people may consider keeping the current name in order to have a Yeti as their mascot. -Massimo
Utah Hockey Club:
This is definitely the worst name fans could choose.
I just think it is so bland and boring and that would carry over to the team's branding as well, obviously.
Although it may be the worst choice, I wouldn't be totally shocked if this ends up being the winner because the fans are already used to it.
I just think when you have such cool colors like the team does, you have to have a real name and logo to go with it.
The logo that was shown to the public looks like some sort of yeti with a mountain range incorporated into the logo. This would be a complete failure if picked.
Nice idea, but not going to cut it. -Austin
If fans choose this name, this team is doomed. The Utah Hockey Club is identical to the Washington Football Team and the Washington team found a name that has rebranded the team and has given the team success.
The Utah team needs to have an actual name and not something that just tells you that they are a hockey team. -Andrew
There really isn’t any major significance with the name and I don’t understand why any people would vote for it because it wasn’t supposed to be in the top 3 in the first place.
The Utah Wasatch would make more sense because it’s the name of the mountain range that is in Utah which has some significance.
So, there are rankings of the top names and logos that the Utah fans will choose from. The decision of their future image is truly in the hands of the fans. -Massimo
