NFL Weekly Recap: Week 6
Week 6 of the NFL season just wrapped up and it was an eventful week for fans across the League. Let’s take a look at some major headlines.
Defeating the Undefeated
The Eagles and 49ers both entered the week looking to maintain their perfect record, but two unsuspected teams got in their way.
The Jets and Browns squeezed their way past these two powerhouses and crushed their hopes for an undefeated season.
The Jets managed to beat the Eagles 20-14 for the first time in franchise history after a clutch interception by Tony Adams, which put them within the red zone for one final time. They were able to capitalize with a game-winning touchdown on that short drive.
The Browns and their top-ranked defense barely beat the Niners 19-17 after Jake Moody missed his 41-yard game-winning field goal. This handed Brock Purdy his first regular-season loss as San Francisco's starting quarterback.
AFC North Showdown
The Ravens, Steelers, Browns and Bengals all remain at .500 or above.
Baltimore currently holds first place in the division, but that could change within the coming weeks.
Cincinnati continues to improve from their slow start, while the Browns constantly prove they are a high-caliber team this season. Although Pittsburgh has struggled offensively so far, they shouldn't be counted out yet either.
The AFC North appears to be a fight to the finish, as it is arguably one of the most competitive divisions in the League.
Is there a new NFC contender?
The NFC has some competition brewing this season.
Similar to last year, Philadelphia and the Niners remain the top dogs in their conference, but the Lions have emerged proving they are actual playoff contenders this year.
Detroit barely missed the wild card spot last year, finishing with a 9-8 record. After their 20-6 victory against Tampa Bay, they are sitting pretty at 5-1 right beside the Eagles and Niners.
There is still a lot of ball left to play, so it’s early to tell how they will look later on in the season. But if they keep playing the way they have, there is a chance they could be No. 1 in the NFC.
Who’s in line for the No. 1 draft pick?
It’s no surprise there are a handful of teams that aren't performing well this season.
Five teams sit towards the bottom of the league with only one win, but the Panthers have yet to get a win of their own.
By the looks of it, Carolina seems to be the front-runner for the No. 1 draft pick. Throughout six weeks, they have only had one close game back in Week 2 against the Saints. Every other week has been one-sided against them.
The ultimate question is, will this trend continue for them throughout the rest of the season?
