NFL Trade Deadline: Mock trades
On Nov. 5, America will make a decision on who to lead their country. On the same day, NFL management teams will be making decisions on who to trade for or away.
Here are four mock trades that could realistically happen before the Nov. 5 NFL trade deadline:
Bills Recieve: Budda Baker
Cardinals Recieve: 2025 4th Round Draft Pick
Brandon Beane has not shied away from making big moves when necessary. After acquiring Amari Cooper earlier in the season, Beane said the team is not done adding.
With the glaring hole at Wide Reciever filled, the Bills need to make a move on defense to become a more complete unit.
Adding Baker to the fold would give Buffalo a big time safety who would come in and be an instant starter in one of the weaker safety rooms in the league.
The Cardinals, while in prime position to go on a run and make the playoffs, still have a very young and unproven group. Dumping off some of Baker’s salary to Buffalo would free up some money in the offseason for the team to get younger.
Buccaneers receive: Za’Darius Smith
Browns Recieve: 2025 5th Round Draft Pick
If the Buccaneers elect to take on more of Smith’s contract, they could get away with giving up a 6th round pick instead, but let’s pretend they allow Cleveland to eat most of it.
The Buccaneers defense has been very shaky this year. They are in the bottom five in the league in points and yards allowed.
The edge rotation for the Bucs is very young and the players have not been producing. Adding Smith to that group would provide some veteran leadership and give a boost in on-field production as well.
After trading Amari Cooper and Watson being ruled out for the season, it looks as though Cleveland is all but done for.
Getting any value for a solid pass-rusher this season would seem like a win for Cleveland, and can use the pick to retool for the future.
Lions Recieve: Azeez Ojulari
Giants Recieve: 2025 5th Round Draft Pick, 2026 3rd Round Draft Pick
The Giants fell to the Steelers on Sunday Night Football to fall to 2-6, and will now look to move on from some key players.
Although New York wants to be “blown away” with an offer for Ojulari to accept, in the position they are in, the organization may need to reconsider their asking price.
After the loss of star edge rusher Aiden Hutchinson, the Lions need to bolster that position to complete the roster and try to get to the Super Bowl.
With the NFC not up to full strength this season, Detroit needs to go all in to win. Giving away some future picks for a pass-rusher in a contract year would be a tremendous move for Detroit to gear up for a deep playoff run.
Texans Receive: Mike Williams
Jets Recieve: 2025 7th Round Draft Pick, 2026 6th Round Draft Pick
Nico Collins is on his way back from injury, however, Houston lost their big offseason trade acquisition in Stefon Diggs for the season.
Stroud has not looked quite like his rookie-year self so far this season, and losing Diggs for the year will not help that cause.
The Jets tried to save their season by trading for Davante Adams, but have lost both their games since trading for the star receiver.
With two very good receivers on the roster and a 2-6 record, Mike Williams could be out the door for the Jets.
The price should be low to grab him, so the Texans could bolster their receiving room with a low-risk, high-reward type player in Williams.
