Saquon Barkley celebrating in Metlife

NFL Overreactions and Underreactions

By John Maldonado

With the NFL season coming to a conclusion, it’s time for the last overreactions and underreactions of the season.

Overreaction: Travis Kelce pushing Andy Reid on the sidelines

Everyone had something to say when Kelce rushed into Reid, causing him to lose his balance, and was screaming to keep him in the game before teammate Jerrick McKinnon pulled him away.

Now, was Kelce out of line, yes, and even he was aware of this as he said his actions were “definitely unacceptable,” on his podcast.

But, Reid laughed about the situation afterward and said that “he keeps me young.”

There’s always tension in sports, especially football and they’re playing at the biggest stage, this was just one player getting too fired up which has happened before and it’ll happen again.

Overreaction: C.J Shroud wins Offensive Rookie of the Year of Puka Nacua

This year fans witnessed what could be the greatest rookie race of all time but unfortunately, that means someone had to lose.

Nacua broke the record for most receiving yards and most receptions by a rookie on top of breaking the record for most receiving yards in a single postseason game by a rookie.

Shroud on the other hand finished with the third most passing yards all-time by a rookie, led the league in touchdown-to-interception ratio, and carried the Texans to the playoffs and beat the Browns in the postseason.

Both players had incredible seasons that will be remembered for years to come, fans were going to be upset no matter who won so it’s best to just appreciate their performances regardless of who won.

Underreaction: Jim Harbaugh is the newest head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers

Right after winning the National Championship with Michigan, Harbaugh decided to take his talents back to the NFL and this couldn’t be bigger for the Chargers

The Chargers have been stuck in mediocrity despite having the star power with players like Justin Herbert, Derwin James, Keenan Allen, Khalil Mack and more.

Former Head Coach, Brandon Staley, despite having the roster he did, finished his time in Los Angeles with a 24-24-0 record and was fired last December.

Harbaugh is certainly an upgrade from Staley and has the potential as a coach to bring this team back from the mud and to have them make some real noise next season.

Underreaction: Saquon Barkley's next destination

Barkley has expressed his love for the Big Blue, but that doesn’t mean that he’s guaranteed to resign with them, and wherever he goes it’s bound to shake the league up.

In six seasons for the Giants, Barkley has 7,311 all-purpose yards and 47 total touchdowns.

Barkley has had high-level production despite being on a team that has struggled with its offensive line ever since he arrived.

Barkley has the perfect mixture of athleticism, speed and skill and the team that picks him is going to get an elite weapon.
