Nick Sirianni

NFL Hot Seat: Week 6

By CommRadio Staff

Hudson’s Pick: Will Levis

The Titans have only been able to obtain a record of 1-4 going into Week 7. Will Levis has been the starting Quarterback for each of those games.

With their only win being against the Miami Dolphins, Levis wasn’t even able to play for the majority of the game due to a minor shoulder injury.

Back-up Quarterback Mason Rudolph came in and walked out of Miami with the victory that week.

Levis had a bye week to recover from the injury and was unable to defeat the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6.

Brian Callahan—the Head Coach of the Titans—may want to consider giving Rudolph a chance to start sooner rather than later.

Tennessee’s remaining schedule makes it possible for them to salvage their season, but there is not much room for error.

Levis has only managed 699 passing yards in five games, which is low in comparison to a bunch of the other starters. Currently, he is also leading the league in interceptions.

Whether Callahan decides to make that call or not will be crucial for the rest of the Titans’ season.

Alex’s Pick: Nick Sirianni

Some seats are hot; others are scorching. After this past weekend, things are certainly heating up in Philadelphia.

Two seasons ago, the Eagles reached the Super Bowl and lost. Despite the defeat, there was still plenty of reason to believe considering the roster they had.

Last season started promisingly, but the Eagles collapsed, losing five of the last six regular season games. The collapse finished with a 32-9 blowout loss to Tampa Bay in the playoffs.

This season has come with lots of pressure following how last year ended. The Eagles have scratched their way to a 3-2 record after beating a struggling Browns team last Sunday.

With the mediocre start, many fans have begun to question if Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni should be removed from his position.

Sirianni has already given up full-time play-calling duties so many wonder what purpose he serves.

On Sunday, Sirianni was seen having a verbal altercation with Eagles fans which came off as immature and inappropriate for a head coach to indulge in.

Sirianni’s continuous antics mixed with poor results have turned the fanbase against him putting him on the hot seat.

Austin’s Pick: Kevin Stefanski

Just about eight months ago, Kevin Stefanski was named Coach of the Year after leading the Browns to the playoffs.

Cleveland dropped to 1-5 with a loss to the Eagles this past Sunday and it doesn't seem like the on-field play is going to change anytime soon.

The entire Browns team continues to struggle, especially Deshaun Watson. Watson once again has yet to surpass 200 passing yards in a game and the Browns as a whole haven't even scored 20 points in a single game either.

The defense has been mediocre and with the departure of Amari Cooper, the Browns seem to have thrown the towel in for the rest of the season.

Stefanski should not be on the hot seat in Cleveland because he is forced to start a bum at quarterback but we know how the business of the NFL works and it wouldn’t surprise me if he gets canned in the near future.

Peyton’s Pick: Zac Taylor

As we head into Week 7 there has been one team that has been underperforming this year and that is the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals have started off the season 2-4 with Joe Burrow playing the best ball of his career.

So how did they get here? Week one started off with a surprising loss to the New England Patriots then followed it up with two heartbreaking losses to the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Commanders.

The Bengals then got their first win of the season against the Carolina Panthers only to follow it up with another heartbreaking loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The Bengals just won their most recent game against the New York Giants in a sluggish game, so with all this being said why do I think Zac Taylor is on the hotseat?

I think Taylor is on the hot seat for two reasons; his failure to build a defense to complement a top-tier offense, and how he closes out games when it matters.

The Bengals' defense ranks in the lower half of yards per game which is just downright awful. They have let up a total of 1,260 passing yards and 876 rushing yards. Both are numbers that simply can’t happen, especially when the offense is firing on all cylinders.

Another reason why Taylor is on the hot seat is his questionable playcalling at the end of games. One game that stands out the most is the loss to the Ravens.

The Bengals were set up in plus territory after a Lamar Jackson fumble, but what followed after was three straight run plays resulting in a total gain of two yards. In that situation, you would like to see Joe Burrow have a chance to march the ball down the field and end the game himself.

As the season continues it will be very interesting to see how Taylor can adjust to his current situation, but as of right now, I think he is on the hot seat.
