NFL Game of the Week: Dallas Cowboys vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Dallas Cowboys (2-2) are traveling to Acrisure Stadium for a Sunday Night Football Matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1). This is one of the most historic rivalries that crosses conferences.
They played each other three times in the Super Bowl in 1976, 1979 and 1996. The all-time record between these teams is close, but Dallas has a slight edge winning 17 of the 33 matchups since their first matchup at the Cotton bowl in 1960.
Both sides are battling injuries, But Micah Parsons is definitely the biggest name on either side, he is doubtful to play in this game and it would mark the first time he missed a game in his NFL career.
The Steelers will be without Alex Highsmith, Cordarelle Patterson and MyCole Pruitt who are all listed as out. Some of the players listed as questionable right now include Russell Wilson, Larry Ogunjobi and Jaylen Warren. For the Cowboys, Trevon Diggs, Caelen Carson and Ezekiel Elliott are listed as questionable.
Other players out on the Cowboys include Brandin Cooks and Demarcus Lawrence who was placed on the Injured Reserve list with a foot injury.
With all the injuries on both sides, it will be hard to guess what exactly is going to happen, but looking at the team stats, the Steelers are near the middle of the pack offensively but have an elite defense.
The Cowboys are much better on offense than defense, they rank 15th overall and have the sixth-best passing attack, but also have the league's worst rushing attack.
Ceedee Lamb has been modest this season entering the season with high expectations. As Dak Prescott’s number one option, he will have to step up in primetime being matched up against Donte Jackson.
The Cowboys' defense was great last season, but this season has been a completely different story, and the Steelers led by Justin Fields will be looking to build off of a decent offensive performance last week against the Colts.
With the Cowboys struggling to stop the run, Fields can help the Steelers run game on Sunday and Najee Harris will be looking to bounce back after a tough outing last week.
These two teams only get the opportunity to face each other every four years, and in 2020, the Steelers won 24-19. I am predicting another low-scoring matchup this Sunday.
Prescott and Fields will be the deciding factor, but also look out for Brandon Aubrey and Chris Boswell, two of the best kickers in the league, who could also make a big impact at Acrisure Stadium.
