NFL Game of the Week: Buffalo Bills vs. Seattle Seahawks
Week 8 of the NFL is here, with many exciting marquee matchups to take place. One of these games is set in the city that never sleeps, with the Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks going head-to-head on Sunday afternoon.
The Bills will travel to Seattle, bringing their 5-2 record into Lumen Field as the city's new duo of quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Amari Cooper look to build on their success in last week's game against the Tennessee Titans. In that game, Cooper had 66 receiving yards as well as his first touchdown for his new team.
Allen on the other hand totaled 323 yards and logged two touchdowns in the team's 34-10 win.
Outside of this new duo, rookie receiver Keon Coleman is coming off his best performance where he had four receptions for 125 yards.
For Seattle, they too are coming off a win beating the Atlanta Falcons on the road last week 34-14, improving to 4-3 on the year. This was a big game for the team as at the time they were on a three-game losing streak.
The Seahawks quarterback and receiver duo of Geno Smith and DK Metcalf put up some strong numbers in the Peach State. Smith had 207 yards and two touchdowns, while Metcalf brought in a touchdown accompanied by 99 receiving yards.
Defense also played a huge role on the road to victory for Seattle, as they forced three turnovers including two interceptions and a fumble recovery that turned into a touchdown after being scooped up by linebacker Derick Hall.
The Bills will be without some key pieces this week, with it being unsure if receiver Curtis Samuel will be able to return for the game. This is also the final game linebacker Von Miller will have to sit out for the suspension he received in November of last year.
Injuries may also play a role in the Seahawks plans this weekend, as Metcalf suffered an MCL sprain in the game against the Falcons.
If this is the case, Seattle will need the rest of the receiver room to step up. They will most likely continue to rely on running back Kenneth Walker III both on the ground and through the air, while also asking second-year receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba to play a bigger role in the absence of their primary receiver.
Going into the game the Bills are listed as the favorites, with the game's spread being at 3.5 points. Buffalo also won the last time the two teams faced off in 2020, winning 44-34 in Buffalo. With this being said, the Seahawks have an all-time winning record of 8-6 in this matchup, so it would not be wise to count them out, especially with the 12th man behind them on every snap.
