NFL Fantasy Football: Week 7

By Ethan Bell

It is the official halfway point of the fantasy football season and many teams are looking to improve their rosters as they make the push for the playoffs. There are many players this week that can help you win your matchup.

Starts of the week:

Quarterbacks:

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

Stafford comes into the week as the No. 16 quarterback in fantasy football according to NFL.com and that is because of his lackluster performance against the Cardinals last week. In the game, Stafford put up a season-low 13.24 fantasy points.

Expect a bounce back this week against a Steelers defense that gives up a lot of yards through the air. So far this season, Pittsburgh is ranked No. 16 against quarterbacks.

Sam Howell, Washington Commanders

In his first season as a starter, Howell has not been bad at all for fantasy purposes. He is currently the No. 12 quarterback on the season and he has a juicy matchup against the Giants. They are the No. 19-ranked defense against all quarterbacks so far this season.

Howell is an interesting piece to add to any roster that needs quarterback help.

Running Backs:

Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts

Taylor came back from IR two weeks ago in their matchup against the Titans, and running back Zach Moss had a day with 33.50 fantasy points in PPR formats.

Since then, Taylor has been working slowly into the offense and is expected to be the Colts’ bell cow once again. Taylor will most likely get back into form this week against a tough Cleveland defense.

Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions

So far this season, David Montgomery has been the running back out of Detroit that has gotten all of the work, but with Montgomery being questionable this week, it is time for Gibbs to step up and show why he was a first-round pick.

The only issue for Gibbs this week is his health, but all the news coming out of Detroit makes it seem like he is going to play. If he plays, he needs to be in the lineup of all rosters that have Gibbs.

Wide Receivers:

DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles

In the past few weeks, Smith has been burning fantasy owners. Against the Jets, Smith had only 9.40 points and two weeks prior against the Rams he had just 1.60. To be fair, those two defenses are extremely difficult for wide receivers to go against.

This week, Smith has a much more favorable matchup against the Miami Dolphins. This game will most likely be a shootout and the Dolphins rank 24th against all wide receivers in fantasy football.

Wan’Dale Robinson, New York Giants

This is a sleeper pick, but Robinson had one of the best games of his young career against the Bills last weekend. He racked up eight catches for 62 yards for a total of 14.20 fantasy points.

Robinson was Tyrod Taylor’s favorite target last weekend, and he has a great matchup against the Commanders, a team that is No. 27 against all receivers in fantasy football. Robinson is a really exciting player with tremendous upside. He should be a great starter this week.

Tight End:

Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons

Pitts has burned a lot of people in fantasy over the years, and it is not his fault. He is one of the most talented tight ends in the NFL, but the Falcons just do not use him. However, over the past few weeks, Pitts has seen his production go up, and now it is time to make him an everyday player again.

He goes up against Tampa Bay this weekend and it should be interesting to see how he fares.
