NFL fantasy football: Week 2
Redemption. I’ve been given a second chance by the fantasy football Gods. It’s the first week of the season, everyone needs to take a breath and realize I’m not going to be perfect.
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you can sadly take a look at my article from last week to see my mistakes.
But let’s be optimistic and talk about how I had some home run picks last week including starting Jameson Williams (24.4 points in PPR), benching DK Metcalf (5.9 points in PPR) and Tyreek Hill being the boom player of the week (26.0 Points in PPR)
To make up for my misses last week, I guess I just gotta go perfect this week and maybe with fewer players… Here we go.
This week's absolute must-start!
JK Dobbins
Dobbins is going up against one of the weakest defenses in the league this week in the Carolina Panthers who gave up 180 rushing yards in their blowout loss to the Saints last week.
While Gus Edwards struggled to get going against the Raiders, Dobbins had 10 rushes for 135 yards with three catches.
We know that the Chargers are going to look to rely a little bit on their run game to take the pressure off of Justin Herbert and this is the perfect week to do it.
If you have Dobbins, you have to start him this week because he’s going to go off!
Malik Nabers
Nabers, who had a pretty solid rookie debut, despite the Giants getting absolutely destroyed by the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, could be in line for a big game this week.
Nabers put up five catches for 66 yards against the Vikings, going into this matchup against a Commander's defense that got absolutely lit up by Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers, he could find himself having a load full of targets.
Not to mention, for some reason Daniel Jones has played fantastic in his career against the Commanders, going 5-1-1 against them, throwing for 10 touchdowns and only three interceptions while having an average passer rating of 98.0.
Najee Harris
He had 20 of the 26 rushing attempts that were given to running backs last week against the Falcons, Jaylen Warren is out and the Broncos' defense gave up 146 rushing yards to the Seahawks.
Harris looked like a beast, running through a stiff Falcons defense and I expect him to continue that dominance as Arthur Smith will look to take some pressure off of Justin Fields against an iffy Broncos defense.
Must sits
Zack Moss
While Moss had a solid week one putting up 14.1 points in Week 1 against the Patriots, six of that came from a touchdown and he was splitting much of the backfield work with Chase Brown.
In Week 2, the Bengals will play the Kansas City Chiefs and while they look for something to get their offense sparked, mostly in the passing game, they will most likely turn to their wide receiver core and to Chase Brown who got most of the receiving work against the Patriots.
Zamir White
Not only has Alexander Mattison sprung himself into the conversation to get more touches in the backfield after his strong performance in Week 1, but the Raiders will play the Ravens in Baltimore and it could get ugly.
In a Raiders offense that has been very on and off from the end of last season to the beginning of this one, I think it’s safe to sit out White against the 5th ranked rushing defense in the league this year.
George Pickens
Two Steelers on the list this week! Just as I said last week about Metcalf having a hard time against Patrick Surtain while the rest of the offense flows, the same thing is going to happen this week.
Pickens definitely isn’t a bad play, but in a week where the Steelers will most likely look to rely on their run game and short-yardage situations, it feels safe to stay away from this matchup, especially with one of the league's best cornerbacks guarding him.
Boom of the Week
Ja’Marr Chase
In three games against the Chiefs, Chase has put up 404 yards and three touchdowns. Chase hates the Chiefs, Chase owns the Chiefs. Chase will go absolutely crazy this week so he doesn’t tarnish his reputation. Enough said.
Oh well, I ended up going with the same amount of players as last week.
