NFL Draft player comparisons
The NFL Draft is a huge part of the NFL’s future and it is always fun to see the comparisons that some of the prospects receive to current or former NFL players.
Here are the top 10 prospects in the NFL Draft and each of their comparisons to current players.
Caleb Williams, QB, USC
Comp: Patrick Mahomes
Williams is the do-it-all quarterback that any team would want to have. His ability to make off-balance throws and out-of-schedule passes is like nothing that has ever been seen before in a college game.
These throws are the most Mahomes-like throws and style of play since Mahomes entered the NFL.
Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State
Comp: A.J. Green
Harrison Jr. is one of the best receiver prospects of all time and has incredibly high expectations entering his rookie season.
I compared him to A.J. Green because of his incredible route running while also having the big play ability.
Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina
NFL Comp: Justin Herbert
It’s not just the number that is similar between Maye and Herbert.
Both players have an incredibly strong arm and the ability to stretch the field with their legs.
Neither player has had much success in the win collum so far in their careers either which has hurt them, but Maye projects to be a first-week starter.
Rome Odunze, WR, Washington
Comp: Ja’Marr Chase
Odunze took the Pac-12 by storm with his incredible season for Washington.
The trio of receivers for the Huskies has not been seen in NCAA Football since the championship team for LSU with Chase.
Chase was the best receiver of that group and had a very similar style of play to Odunze’s.
Odunze projects in the top 10 similar to Chase in 2021.
Malik Nabers, WR, LSU
Pro Comp: Justin Jefferson
Nabers emerged as one of the best receivers in the country in his final season at LSU.
For his comparison, we will stay at LSU with Jefferson. Both players have an all-around game that is very hard to compare to in the collegiate game.
Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU
Pro Comp: Lamar Jackson
Daniels can make every play in the book but can take risky hits at times.
Daniels’ professional comparison is another Heisman winner in Jackson. He doesn’t have the speed of Jackson but a very similar style of play.
Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame
Pro Comp: Tristan Wirfs
Alt has broken free from the pack of offensive tackles in the draft. His athletic ability matched with the pass protection he has already developed makes him a top 10 prospect.
He compares to Wirfs because of his athleticism and size. Alt is taller than Wirfs but their physicality matches well.
Dallas Turner, Edge, Alabama
Pro Comp: Micah Parsons
Turner is an athletic specimen who has used his athleticism to develop impressive pass-rush moves.
Parsons, despite exiting college as an inside linebacker, has used his athleticism to become one of the fiercest pass rushers in the NFL.
Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia
Pro Comp: George Kittle
Bowers is an all-around tight end who broke out in his freshman year at Georgia to become one of the best tight end prospects in recent history.
Bowers compares to Kittle because of the all-around aspect that Kittle brings to the league. Bowers is already an incredible blocker while being a legit receiving threat.
Troy Fautanu, OL, Washington
Pro Comp: Peter Skoronski
Fautanu projects at an interior position in the NFL despite playing offensive tackle at Washington.
Skoronski’s versatility has helped him at the Chargers. In college, he played at offensive tackle despite playing more on the interior with the Chargers.
