NFL Betting: Week 9
The following article contains information that is not representative of the opinions of CommRadio. It solely expresses the opinions of Hudson Hvizdak.
When I saw the lineup for the games in Week 9, it was hard not to pass up the opportunity to make some extra money by making some bold predictions.
Things are heating up in the NFL, which means anything is possible. We will be using the FanDuel lines, spreads and totals for this week's slate.
Let’s make some money, shall we?
Packers Moneyline over Lions (+144)
The Lions are the favorites after having been on a roll winning their last five games. The defense has been good and the offense has been great with Jared Goff as the quarterback.
However, it is inevitable that every team in the NFL is bound to have an off-week where they don’t play so well.
The Packers have an opportunity to take first in the NFC North with a win here which makes me believe they’ll be heavily motivated to upset Detroit.
If anybody is capable of beating the Lions, I think Green Bay has a really good chance of making it happen.
Saints Spread over Panthers (-7.5, Under 43.5)
The Saints slowly fell apart after two impressive wins to start the season, now coming into Week 9 with a record of 2-6.
Derek Carr is expected to make his return, giving me hope that this team will be able to do better offensively.
With that being said, it’s very doubtful that the score could be anywhere near where it was during their first outing this season which ended in 47-10.
Carolina has yet to have a game where they did not win—which is only one game—to be behind by only one possession. Realistically, New Orleans should have no problem covering this spread.
Colts Spread over Vikings (+5.5)
If Anthony Richardson was the starting quarterback in this game, I would have predicted the Vikings to win by a wider spread.
However, it will be veteran quarterback Joe Flacco going up against Sam Darnold this week after Richardson was officially benched.
Flacco has done great in the games he has played this year. Even in defeat, he has managed to keep the games close enough to where the Colts have had a chance to win every time.
Without a doubt in my mind, I believe Flacco is capable of covering the spread whether they win or lose.
Chiefs Spread over Buccaneers (-8.5, Over 45.5)
This game has the potential to be a shootout between Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield with the slight edge going to the Chiefs.
Both the Buccaneers and Chiefs have great offenses even if Tampa Bay is going into this game without Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Mayfield showed that he is still capable of scoring big against a team like the Atlanta Falcons without his top two Wide Receivers.
What it comes down to is Kansas City having a better defense. Tampa Bay has had multiple games where the game has gone over 45 points and still managed to come out on the losing end by a decent margin.
