NFL Betting: Week 8

By Jonathan Hartley

Week 8 of the NFL season has arrived, and with it comes another week of NFL betting. The lines aren’t too challenging this week, so you should be able to up the bankroll this week.

Here are my picks for teams to win and/or cover the spread this week.

NOTE: The following article contains information that is not representative of the opinions of CommRadio. It solely expresses the opinions of Jon Hartley.

Cincinnati Bengals (+140) at San Francisco 49ers

The Bengals had a rocky start to the season, but have played their best football over their last two games. A large part of their struggles were due to injuries, as quarterback Joe Burrow has been playing through a calf injury he sustained in training camp, and Tee Higgins suffered a rib injury that caused him to miss Week 5, but he played through it in Week 6.

The Bengals are coming off a bye, which gave both Burrow and Higgins a chance to get healthy.

On the flip side, the 49ers offense is banged up themselves. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel has already been ruled out, while left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) and Brock Purdy (concussion) are questionable for the contest. On top of that, running back Christian McCaffrey has been playing through an oblique injury suffered in Week 6.

The Bengals will be the healthier team heading into this matchup, and Lou Anarumo and the defense should be able to slow down a banged-up 49ers offense. Lock in the Bengals at plus money while you can.

Baltimore Ravens (-8.5) at Arizona Cardinals

The Ravens are fresh off what can only be described as a slaughter of the Lions last week. The Ravens led 28-0 before the Lions even got a first down, and eventually won 38-6.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson was on fire, completing 21-of-27 passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns while also adding 36 yards and a score on the ground. Tight end Mark Andrews also had a big game, catching four balls for 63 yards and two touchdowns.

The Cardinals have played some teams tough this year, but they’ve lost four games in a row by 10 or more points. The Ravens will extend that streak to five straight games this week and cover the spread.

Minnesota Vikings (-1.5) at Green Bay Packers

The Vikings are coming off a huge upset win over the 49ers, beating them 22-17 on Monday Night Football last week. Quarterback Kirk Cousins finally found a way to exercise his demons and win a prime-time game, and it came against one of the NFL’s toughest defenses.

After throwing an interception on the third play of the game, Cousins was stellar, completing 35-of-45 passes for 378 yards and two touchdowns. Rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison was phenomenal as well, breaking out for 123 yards and two touchdowns on seven catches.

On the other hand, the Packers have been anything but good recently, dropping their last three games after starting 2-1. Quarterback Jordan Love has struggled this season, leading many to question whether or not he is the quarterback of the future for the Packers.

The Vikings will stay hot offensively, take advantage of Love’s struggles defensively and cruise to a win. If you want to win even more money, you could even take an alternate spread for the Vikings to win by as many as seven points.
