NFL betting: Week 6
The following article contains information that is not representative of the opinions of CommRadio. It solely expresses the opinions of Alec Brown.
The NFL season is in full swing, featuring quarterback changes, coach firings, and unexpected team performances, like the undefeated Vikings. Using FanDuel odds, I’ve found some key betting opportunities for Week 6. This week, I am sticking to spreads and money lines. Here are my picks:
Chicago Bears Spread (-110)
The Bears are underrated in this matchup. The Jaguars have been inconsistent, barely scraping by against the Colts, who were without their starting quarterback. Despite Jacksonville’s so-called home-field advantage in London, their 6-5 record there doesn’t justify the spread. Meanwhile, the Bears are coming off their best game of the season. They’ve lost only two close games and have been competitive throughout. Fading the Jaguars makes sense, especially after they lost to Cleveland’s Deshaun Watson. The Bears should easily cover this spread.
Houston Texans Spread (-120)
As a Patriots fan, I recommend fading New England this week. The Patriots' offensive line is among the worst in the league, and rookie QB Drake Maye is making his first career start. This is a daunting task, especially against a Texans defense featuring edge rushers Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter.
The Texans' offense, led by C.J. Stroud, has one of the best passing games in the league. They should exploit the Patriots' weaknesses, especially with only one notable cornerback, Christian Gonzalez, to limit Stroud’s options. Based on the current form, the Texans should be bigger favorites, and I expect them to cover easily.
Denver Broncos Moneyline (+134)
It’s criminal to see Denver as the underdog here. The Broncos have won three straight games and come in with momentum, while the Chargers have struggled, scoring just 10 points in each of their last two losses against the Chiefs and Steelers. Denver's defense has been exceptional, allowing just 12.5 points per game, and standout cornerback Patrick Surtain II is coming off a two-interception performance against Aaron Rodgers.
On offense, rookie QB Bo Nix is improving week-by-week, with no interceptions since Week 2. The Broncos are a great moneyline pick this week.
Atlanta Falcons Spread (-6.5)
The Panthers’ poor form continues. After another disappointing week, it’s clear that the “Andy Dalton Linsanity Run” is over, and Carolina's defense is the worst in the NFL, allowing the most points per game. This sets up perfectly for the Falcons, who are coming off their highest-scoring game of the season against the Buccaneers. Atlanta has had its offensive struggles against tough teams like the Chiefs and Steelers, but they won’t face those challenges this week. I expect Falcons QB Kirk Cousins and the offense to have a field day, covering the spread comfortably.
If any of these picks are incorrect, just know I will be just as upset and disappointed as you. Also, I am not an expert.
