Steelers in their color rush jerseys

NFL: Best Color Rush jerseys

By Carlin Whalen

These uniforms don’t see the light very often. In fact, most of the time they are worn at night during the beloved primetime games.

Which ones am I talking about?

The color rush.

While the actual promotion was discontinued back in 2018, teams still wear them.

Let's take a look at my top five from around the league.

5: Denver Broncos

I’ve seen some negative reviews about its uniform, but Denver’s all-orange look really stuck out to me.

While it’s only one color, aside from the stripes down the side of the pants, it doesn’t overload your senses.

The Broncos jersey is pretty similar to the Miami Dolphins color rush. However, the Dolphins' uniform is a bright orange, which doesn’t match their color scheme and is just hard to look at.

That is where Denver succeeded.

It is the perfect shade to match their main color and it’s not overly bright, which creates a pleasing uniform to look at.

4: Tennessee Titans

Baby blue isn't for everyone, but I absolutely love the look the Titans bring with their color rush uniform.

The baby blue paired with a darker navy shoulder strip looks seamless and complimentary.

Tennessee opted to use their white helmets, which I think was smart. If it decided to match them with the outfit, I think it would’ve been too much blue.

Overall, I’m a big fan of this style and the simplicity it brings.

However, I’m not sure if they will ever wear these color rush styles again as they have brought back the Oilers baby blue throwbacks.

3: Baltimore Ravens

While I am a Steeler fan and not the biggest fan of the Ravens, I can’t pass up their color rush uniforms.

Baltimore took aspects from its previous color rush and added a new helmet to the mix.

Purple and gold honestly don't seem like the greatest color combination, but then you see the final product and it looks great.

Their new helmet compliments the uniform well with a purple base alongside a gold facemask. It also features an alternate Ravens logo.

Baltimore named this “Rising Purple” and will wear it on Thursday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals during a Week 10 divisional matchup.

I wouldn’t mind seeing these again.

2: Houston Texans

Many NFL teams rock an all-black uniform for their color rush, but many of them aren’t the best.

In fact, there are only two that I think work and Houston is one of them.

The Texans crafted their all-black look with red numbers outlined in blue, which made its debut during Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills.

On top of that, their helmets had a revamp to showcase a light blue “H” instead of the classic Houston logo.

I thought these looked phenomenal under the spotlight and believe the Texans should wear these a few more times this season.

1: Pittsburgh Steelers

There might be some bias in this choice, but the Steelers color rush looks amazing.

Their all-black uniforms paired with the yellow numbers is just perfect. They complement each other perfectly and are loved among fans across the league.

I don't think this uniform has much competition, besides the Texans all black color rush.

Pittsburgh wore these just two weeks ago against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Steel City rep these again down the final stretch of the season.
