NCAA football transfer portal update: April 25
We are now in the second week of the spring transfer portal window. More players have entered, some have committed and others are expected to land at a destination but have yet to commit. This week, we look at more big-time portal entries as well as commitments and predictions.
New Entries
Tyler Baron: EDGE Louisville (four-star)
Baron left Tennessee in the winter portal to go to Louisville and is now back in the portal. He had his best season last year with 28 total tackles, six sacks and a fumble return for a touchdown. He is in his last year of eligibility and will bring veteran experience to his new team.
Dylan Edwards: RB Colorado (four-star)
In Deion Sanders’s time at Colorado, a theme has been that they will gain and lose more players via the portal than just about any team in college football. Edwards was one of Sanders’s top high school recruits in his first year.
He rushed for 321 yards last year and has the ability to be a good pass catcher out of the backfield. Multiple SEC and Big 12 schools are expected to be in play as well as Notre Dame.
Bai Jobe: EDGE Michigan State (four-star)
Jobe was a top 60 recruit out of high school and is not the first former high recruit to leave Michigan State this week, which also included four-star defensive lineman Andrew Depaepe. Jobe didn’t see much action in 2023 but will add high-level talent to the defensive line that adds him, and he has four years of eligibility remaining.
Khurtiss Perry: DL Alabama (four-star)
Perry was a four-star recruit in 2022 and is one of the highest-rated players in the portal. He redshirted his freshman year before only seeing action in one game as a redshirt freshman. He will be a valuable commodity even without the experience though especially with three years of eligibility remaining.
John Emery Jr.: RB LSU (five-star)
Emery is the first five-star at a skill position to enter the spring transfer portal. He has the talent but has seen limited time the last four years only accumulating 1,062 rushing yards in four seasons. The main concern will be that he has also missed time due to academics in the past.
Commitments and Predictions
Kadyn Proctor: OT Iowa --> Alabama committed
Damien Martinez: RB Oregon State --> Miami predicted
KeAndre Lambert-Smith: WR Penn State --> Auburn committed
Jaden Rashada: QB Arizona State --> Georgia committed
Henry Parrish: RB Miami --> Ole Miss
