NBA Play-In overreactions
The NBA playoffs are in full swing and there’s so much to talk about including the NBA Play-In. The Warriors and Magic got the seven seed while the Heat and Grizzlies got the eight seed.
From what was seen in the NBA Play-In, some teams need lots of change and others, not so much.
The Chicago Bulls have zero depth
The Bulls were the No. 9 seed in the NBA Play-In and hosted the Miami Heat.
The loser of this game would go home and not play in this year’s playoffs. And the Chicago Bulls did not take advantage of home court and lost by 19.
But it wasn’t because their starters didn’t play well, it was because their bench barely even showed up.
Four out of the five starters for the Bulls were in double figure points with Matas Buzelis with nine.
However, Chicago's bench combined for 13 points which was a major reason why they lost.
Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler will be the best duo in the NBA playoffs
The Golden State Warriors only needed to play one game in the Play-In as they beat the Memphis Grizzlies 121 to 116.
And a lot of people were wondering, what happens when you give one of the greatest NBA players of all time in Curry, one of the greatest playoff performers of all time in Butler?
Well, Butler and Curry combined for 75 points in their win against Memphis.
If Butler and Curry can continue to perform like this throughout the entire NBA playoffs, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made it all the way to the conference finals as the seven seed.
Trae Young will not be wearing a Hawks jersey next season
The Atlanta Hawks had two chances to make it to the NBA playoffs through the NBA Play-In, and they missed on both of those chances.
But, the one person on the roster that should get none of the blame is Young. He was the only Hawk to score 20 or more points in both games that Atlanta played in the Play-In.
Young definitely was not happy with the squad in both games and with how they performed, which showed when he got ejected with less than five minutes in the fourth quarter in their game against the Magic.
So, if the relationship between Young and the Hawks organization continues to heat up, there’s no doubt in my mind that Young will be moving to another city next season.
The Dallas Mavericks’ rebuild starts now
The Mavericks made one of the most controversial trades in NBA history by trading Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Ever since then, NBA fans and most importantly, Dallas fans, have not been happy with the Mavericks.
The Dallas Mavericks did win their first Play-In game to have a chance to make the playoffs but then they lost to the Memphis Grizzlies.
In that game, the Mavericks were heavily relying on their star Anthony Davis who went for 40 points in 37 minutes.
However, two of Dallas’s key starters in P.J. Washington and Derek Lively II combined for zero points.
So, I don’t know what changes need to be made for Dallas this off-season, but if they want to be seen as a playoff contender next year, a lot needs to adjust.
