Drake Maye

My vision for a Patriots rebuild

By Chris Vadnais

Dark times are upon New England.

The football gods spoke to me in a dream.

I have a vision to return us to the promised land.

Drake Maye is the child of prophecy.

This weekend, Maye will get his start against the Houston Texans and slowly mold into his role within the Pats’ system.

As the season progresses, he will quickly develop the passing confidence we saw from him at UNC. Over time, he will continue to become more accurate as he gets familiar with the receiver core the team will trade for.

Will he be the next Tom Brady? No. Will he be a pro bowler? Yes.

Jakobe Brissett is a good backup to have and he has shown flashes of good things, but in no way should he be a starter anymore.

Chris Godwin saves the passing game.

This offseason, New England will throw a fat wad of money at the free agent WR and after handing Mike Evans two year/$52 million, may not have the resources to spare for their other long-time receiver.

Having a good veteran receiver will not only help a young star QB, but he can also help some of the younger guys like Ja’Lynn Polk develop into a somewhat healthy receiver core.

Godwin and Maye actually gel together well next season and Voila!… We can actually score 20 points.

DRAFT A LINE.

Tyler Booker, Tate, Ratledge, Kelvin Banks Jr., Will Campbell, anyone.

I don’t need to tell you why the Pats need an offensive line, but the bottom line is we still need one (no pun intended).

Maye needs more time in the pocket than some of his other rookie counterparts, and sending him into the fire with what we have now vs. a solid line will be a night and day difference for the team.

Put that top-three pick to some good use and suddenly the offense goes from the worst in the league to decent or possibly even above average.

The defense is good, yippie!!!

While the Pats struggle to score the ball, they do a good job of preventing the other team from doing so as well.

Top 10 in points allowed per game, and above average in multiple team defense statistics, the only thing they could use more help with is passing defense.

Maybe picking up a third/fourth round CB would be a good idea, but if you really wanted to play it safe, trade for a proven young corner (although I’m not sure what they would have to give up).

In conclusion, the New England Patriots will be your 2026 Super Bowl Champions.
