My Fav Five: "Teen Wolf" episodes
With over 100 episodes and a stellar cast, “Teen Wolf” gave its viewers some iconic moments. If you’re looking to binge a few episodes, here are a few of the top.
“Wolf Moon/Pilot” - Season 1, Episode 1
Although slightly cringy and silly, this episode is a classic. Starring Tyler Posey as high school sophomore Scott McCall, the episode gives its audience the first introduction to the world of Beacon Hills.
The audience is able to immediately fall in love with the iconic Stiles, Scott’s best friend played by incredible actor, Dylan O’Brien, when the chaotic duo decides to investigate police reports of a dead body. When Scott begins to gain strange abilities after being bitten by a mysterious creature, the fun of “Teen Wolf” begins.
“Motel California” - Season 3, Episode 6
While it had a few plot holes and plot twists, this episode really embodied the horror of the classic “being trapped in a locked room with doom” trope when the main gang is forced to spend the night in a creepy motel after being stranded on the way to an away lacrosse game. This truly nail-biter of an episode had its audiences on the edge of their seats, especially during Stiles’ moving sacrifice for his best friend, Scott.
“De-Void” - Season 3, Episode 22
This episode is creepy, there is quite no other way to put it. However, it truly shows off Dylan O’Brien’s incredible acting skills as he brought the absolute most horrendous and terrifying villain, the Nogitsune, to life. Fortunately, the fan-favorite non-possessed Stiles, also played by O’Brien, is back by the end of the episode.
Each character gets to do something meaningful, and while there are a lot of moving parts, O’Brien’s performance pulls them all together. With a spine-chilling amount of people infected by disgusting flies and a rewarding amount of flashbacks from season one and three, “De-Void” is truly a brilliantly written, unsettling masterpiece.
“Night School” - Season 1, Episode 7
This episode highlights the chaos of season one. After a wolf howl from Scott that results in Derek being killed for the first time, Stiles and Scott find themselves trapped in their high school by the murderous Alpha. When hunter Allison Argent, played by Crystal Reed, is lured to the high school, bringing the popular, yet intelligent Lydia Martin (actress: Holland Roden) and her prone-to-anger boyfriend, Jackson Whittemore (actor: Colton Haynes), in tow, the gang has to figure out how to survive the night. The sheer suspense throughout the episode is enough to make it a must-watch.
“Lie Ability” - Season 5, Episode 16
As with all shows, there’s one perfect couple whose moments are always enjoyable. “Lie Ability” has plenty of Stydia - Stiles and Lydia - moments. In fact, this episode hosts some of the greatest Stydia moments, making it quite popular.
The episode makes Malia Tate, played by Shelley Hennig, realize that friends have each other’s backs as the pack decides to break Lydia out of Eichen House. Everyone has a defined role: Liam is redeemed, Scott becomes a true leader, Parrish embraces his abilities and saves the day and Stiles counterbalances accidentally killing Donovan by saving Lydia. With an evident emphasis on working together as a pack, it becomes clear that McCall’s Pack might just be able to save the day.
